Rumour: David Gibson – Nintendo Looking To Team With Microsoft To Use Azure For Own Streaming Service

David Gibson has said that Nintendo is looking to work with Microsoft to use the tech company’s Azure service for use for a video game streaming platform. Sony and Microsoft officially announced a couple of days ago that they are doing the exact same thing.

    1. Nintendo won’t fall behind? More like, Nintendo won’t ever be able to catch up, they’re literally decades behind the competition on anything online related.

      1. Hence why the partnership with Microsoft makes sense.

Like them or not Microsoft have the best online offer right now between all console manufacturers and they keep improving (unlike nintendo).

    2. The reason Nintendo is like this is in Japan capitalism doesn’t quite work like it does here in America. In fact in America it’s not really capitalism anymore either so I’m going to quit calling it what it used to be and call it corporatism which is the right word for the bad situation we are in and have been especially post WW2 which takes too long to explain in a blog comment.

Our schools are full of garbage compared to since then. Kindergarten people in India now have a better education then the 90 percent of American’s high schools because of soft lies being taught which is a big reason why they have all the tech jobs now and anything that requires self judgement.

In America investors used to decide how a company should be supported. A sick company that makes constantly bad choices would within a few years time would go belly up or get bought out as often times the original founder leaves and our brainwashed generation kids either don’t continue to run it or they run it to the ground doing bad chioces that in the old days was common sense NOT to do.

    3. In Japan businesses like Sony,Nintendo,Honda don’t have public investors. Well they have some but the majority of money comes from the Bank of Japan who decides what company gets how much and have annual meetings. If somebody from Nintend of Japan says “Hey Le’ts make a new 2D Zelda game we think it could be like this………….” they will in these days almost immediately jump up and say “Nope! Too risky!” and maybe even refuse to give anymore money so Nintendo has to back down with that new 2D Zelda game and go with what’s worked.

So they have to make a new port and get again the A-Okay from the Bank of Japan. Competition is NOT allowed so they cannot do it in direct competition of Sony if they do the Bank of Japan will think Nintendo is doing something bad. In Japan if American baseball players play and don’t do what the team agreed you will be kicked out of the game in shame.

Say your suppose to stay at first base so you won’t risk your team losing you decide to go for it and do a home run and get a winning streak it won’t get you anywhere in Japan except kicked out of the team because you didn’t stay on first base the way the agreement was.

Japan everything is group based thinking. It makes them like robots. In schools they don’t have janitors the kids stay an hour after school and do basic cleanup and wipe things down and if you don’t participate in after school activities you will be shamed and not only not liked by your peers but it will affect future job opportunities. They will look into your daily life heavy.

  1. If Nintendo doesn’t go all in on streaming like the others it will do very well I think. This has minimal benefit for customers and is all about game companies making more money and taking even more control. I hate the idea. Digital is bad enough but streaming is even worse. Hopefully the majority sees through this and turns away from those pushing it.

    1. There’s a lot of factors on why streaming games is bad. It will take years for the global average internet speed to hit the bare minimum to even run the games, and even when that does happen there’s games that will never be able to adjust to a streaming service like fighting games. You’ll lose any access to the game if it’s pulled from the service at any time, access will be more limited because you can’t play in public areas like a train or an airplane because those places aren’t likely to have high internet speeds, and so much more.

  2. At this moment in time, I just don’t see streaming being a lucrative service in any shape or form, not even close. To offer an experience equally smooth and pleasant as playing a game directly off your system, streaming requires a very fast and very stable internet connection at all times, which simply is very far from being the standard right now. So it just seems like a waste of resources to try and make it work before the required fundamentals are even given.
All apart from the fact that Nintendo is probably the very last company that should try and get into the business, considering how abysmally bad even their regular and most basic online related services are, lmfao.

  3. you can c where it’s going.
I always will buy physical over digital.
And soon it’ll be il always buy digitally over streaming.
You need seriously good internet for this to work ( hence the reason res 7 and assassins creed are only available in japan for switch streaming) as they are way ahead with pretty much anything technical.
But how will dlc work etc.
Sometimes things go so well and go up and up and up until they come crashing down and go back to the original way they worked just fine in the first place.
It’s all about creating the Netflix of gaming. I don’t like it. Movies: yes
    Games: no.

In fact in America it’s not really capitalism anymore either so I’m going to quit calling it what it used to be and call it corporatism which is the right word for the bad situation we are in and have been especially post WW2 which takes too long to explain in a blog comment.

  5. I forgot to mention that the investing is in a sick situation because it’s all done electronically by bots as people since they were able to do it online are investing in things they really don’t know beans about. This is what lead to the Dot Com bubble then crash in 1997. People invested into junk that later backfired but they didn’t have automatic propping up schemes so it hit pretty quickly.

Today your retirement cash is put into a big ‘pot’ of money so to speak and spread around using computer algorithms the best way they can but it doesn’t look at feedback and doesn’t really give a rip if a company makes bad choices or not.

I just saw a bunch of companies on a news article that have been hurting or are hurting yet still have millions of dollars yet no real revenue stream. If I were an actual stock investor not a computer AI I’d be really concerned if I had stock in any of these companies which are most of your social media platforms.

The reason we are in a retail apcoplyspe is very little to do with Amazon and a lot to do with bad policies and understanding of what families want. JC Penny’s went to all punk clothes. Maybe in some areas it’s not that way but here all our JC Penny’s assume everyone is a city punk kid. Those punk clothes in the past have always been there but you would go past it and get to the family clothes and I got most of my clothes as a kid from there and Meyer and Franks when we got bored of Penny’s. Meyer and Frank’s in Downtown Portland was even better then Penny’s.

Penny’s we got our first VCR there from their then Penny’s Electronics in 87 and it worked all the way to the late 90s and I used it reguarly wearing out our tapes before the VCR had trouble. Our VCR was the ‘Penny’s’ own brand.

Sears is where we used to get computer stuff. We barely ever touched Amazon until all the stores either went out of business or got all the way stupid. We first used Amazon in 2012. We avoided it a long time. It was a popular store way back in 2006. Before that they did books only.

Now they are building brick and morter stores like the ones they put out of business. Isn’t that asinine or WHAT?

  6. If I were a computer AI I wouldn’t care as long as I’m told to keep putting money into “What most people put in” If Google is where most of the stock goes even though they have a history of failed decisions and bad choices then Google will keep being propped up.

Now Google has entered the gaming services. Their Pixlebooks have had nothing but issues from broken defects to something with their magnifier thingy and their Google Glasses and MS holo lens didn’t take off because it was released at a bad economy and little software was written for it.

That’s the other thing I forgot to mention Software. Nintendo puts their stock into console making. It’s no good without software. Mario and Zelda isn’t enough which is why sales were so huge when it was first released and sale numbers don’t count returns when people are bored with it because you can return it to Game Stop and get half credit for something else. Gamestop used to have sucky credit schemes but now you get much better value for in store credit.

Nobody busy a computer for the OS they buy things for software. Without software it’s not worth having. Nintendo Switch may have Indie games but most of it is no better then phone graphics. They need more Breath of the Wild style games but not so big of course but small companies need to do it in their own way to keep the Switch being ‘WOW!’.

Phone people that’s all they know as the majority went from home telephone to smartphone totally skipping over the era and many even work for companies that do these phone graphics as they are simple to create and not use a lot of processing power. There actually is a graphics for the phone look with skinny figures and fat heads.

God I HATE that look. I’d rather it be cell shaded but not that.

  7. I like the idea of Google and MS glasses but unless there is useful software for it it isn’t worth it to run a few pretty VR experiences. That’s what Nintendo needs to understand and what Commodore computers did understand. Commodore Business Machines the guy Jack Tramiel believed in computers by the powers of the people..

Nothing was kept secret and you could program directly to the kernal which on other companies is kept secret. Like Windows and Nintendo you will go to jail if you hard break it and start messing around with it. With Commodore the best graphical games used the kernal for fast processing and Commodore had utilites as well. We did our books on it you could create music, pictures learn to program.etc.

The majority of 90s programmers all used Commodore machines at one point or another as it was simple to use but could do a lot once you get into the heart of it. It’s called Commodore BASIC you boot the machine on and your in BASIC mode where you can run a program or make one. Running was pretty simple even as a 5 year old I could do it in my sleep.

Commodore had a LOT of interesting edutainment software that were far better then Reader Rabbit’s count the chickens or carrots. Some I’d love to see a modern remake.

  8. Jack Tramiel made sure there was software for the machine when it was released so people wouldn’t buy it just for it’s looks. People like you and I could make software and sell it in little sandwich packets for 3 dollars a pop and make quite a bit of money.

A lot of small companies formed this way doing useful software. EA Games and Ubisoft did Commodore titles but EA and Ubisoft were always generic stuff. The only reason they are at the top is the rest of the companies they either killed or bought out and sold off. They have literally no competition.

  9. There actually is a graphics engine for the phone look that is easy to reproduce. We found it a long time ago when it wasn’t very popular but was cheap to make stuff for it and sell it with little risk. Now it’s used in almost everything.

The majority of third party games in Nintendo if it were released on Steam would have mixed reviews many of the negative ones would be hilariously funny. I sometimes love reading negative reviews on Steam just for laughs and giggles as they word it so funny without cussing up a storm. God there are pretty bad Indie games on there like Shower with your Daddy (Simulator) or YouTube Simulator.etc.
