Past Worlds In Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes Of An Elusive Age Have Been Re-Imagined In 2D For Definitive Edition

Dragon Quest fans will be pleased to hear that the 2D 16-bit visuals have been completely re-imagined for past worlds in Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition. When players visit the Echo Chamber, they’ll be able to play through multiple Dragon Quest worlds that contain new content, different quests and items to interact with. Plus, if they want to listen to the Japanese voice-overs, they can switch seamlessly between those and the English versions.

While the retro-inspired 2D graphics look delightfully rustic on the Switch console, you won’t be able to switch seamlessly between 2D and 3D during gameplay. Players will need to visit the Church – where you normally save the game – to change between 2D and 3D graphics and select a chapter to start from. Let us know which play style gets your vote when the definitive edition releases on September 27th for the Nintendo Switch.

  1. Already played this on PS4, but am strongly considering re-buying on Switch to play again with the 16-bit graphics.
