Fire Emblem Three Houses: it takes roughly 80 hours to play one of the three routes

A new interview with Toshiyuki Kusakihara and Genki Yokota with French video game site JeuxVideo has revealed that it takes roughly 80 hours to complete a storyline for each house in the upcoming Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Here’s a quote from the translated interview courtesy of Serenesforest.

Kasukihara: To complete the game with just one of the three houses, it took me 80 hours. I did not skip the dialogue or cutscenes, of course. So if you want to do the three paths, it can take you more than 200 hours.

    1. It’s pretty much confirmed at this point that you’ll be staying at the monastery even in the war phase…but it could just be a case of using time travel powers to still use it, rather than having the story focus on that one location for the whole game.

But I’m optimistic as lots of other elements and stuff like side characters getting way more depth this time are all happening.

      1. Oh yeah definetly and I really hope that we get 3rd tier classes since the level cap is pretty high

  1. This better be the best goddamn Fire Emblem ever if it wants me to play it three times again for 200 hours!
If this is another Fates situation, I’m dropping it on the first playthrough.

well i might play this one and take a look first.. not sure about that if its good since i hope that the game should give you some sort of free skirmishes without too much time limit pressures like persona series or something.. start with random creatures and bandits as well followed from previous games

  3. In the past, this would have excited me. Now with my backlog of games, oh my god! T_T ESPECIALLY since this is Fire Emblem where I can spend hours on one chapter because I lost a damn soldier to permadeath & I don’t want to lose them so I start all over again. Did they confirm that permadeath can be turned off in this entry, too?

    1. That’s why I haven’t finished the DS remake of FE Shadow Dragon yet lol- I always screw up near the end by overextending and getting a good unit killed (and I’ve had it on my Wii U since 2017!).

I don’t know if this game can disable permadeath, but I would imagine so if the last several gave you the option. NOT allowing it would feel like a step backwards at this point. I get that Nintendo seems to be trying to capture its core gamers back since the Wii by making their games more challenging again (I hardly ever died in Zelda Skyward Sword- in BotW, I died upwards of 50 times on my first run, like half of which were to Thunderblight Ganon in the giant camel Beast lol) but in the case of FE permadeath, most people just restart if they lose a unit, so why not just allow it to be off to save time and frustration?
