SEGA lifted the lid today on one of the exciting and rather cool new features in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The company revealed that the sporting title will feature 10 classic events in 2D giving them a nice retro feel. You will be able to get your hands on the latest entry in the Mario & Sonic series on the Nintendo Switch system on 5th November in North America and the 8th November in Europe. Take a look at the new trailer below!

Thanks to Trolliverpust and WetWaluigi for the tip!
Well folks, here it is. Classic Sonic in a game with Mario. Can you stop pretending you still want Mario & Sonic crossovers now?
no
You do realize it’s still the same Olympics theme and gameplay, right?
That’s actually a cool idea, but I think I would have preferred Mario World Mario to fit with how advanced the genesis’s graphics were at the time. Not gonna lie, Sonic’s sprite looks a million times better than Marios.
why 2d? I was excited for this game now I’m not
It’s only a part of the game. 3D events are still there.
Brings me back to Track and Field on the NES. Love it.
So are only certain characters who have 8-bit or 16-bit appearances available for this mode or did they go and create sprites for all the playable athletes? I’ll be a bit sad if Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman/Robotnik are the only ones playable in this fashion.
