There is only one more unannounced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character that will be included in the Fighters Pass, but Nintendo has confirmed in today’s Nintendo Direct that the DLC character train will not stop there. Even more DLC Fighters will “join the battle” in the future. They will not be part of the Fighters Pass and will be sold separately.

Mm there is always a chance for Shantae to come in the crossover game since more DLC fighters are coming. I guess Sakurai has a change of heart, but i wonder whats the reason for this change to include more DLC fighters?.
I would be psyched for Shantae. She is my honorable mention, and Smash can use another female fighter. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I haven’t been so happy in months. Maybe this time we’ll get characters from franchises that are already represented. I want W*luigi, Toad, Mona (Warioware), another Starfox rep, and another Mega Man rep, but I’ll even take 1 out of 5. Also, I hope we get another female rep.
When only need ONE 3rd-party rep per franchise (unless they’re echo fighters, which Sakurai said isn’t happening).
In short, no more characters from Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Persona, Dragon Quest, Banjo-Kazooie, or Fatal Fury.
Additional 3rd-party reps we could use are (but aren’t limited to): NiGHTS into Dreams, Darkstalkers, Monster Hunter, Tales of, Klonoa, Chrono Trigger, Mana, Rayman (because fake leakers), Prof. Layton (ditto), Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro.
Ninja Gaiden and Ghosts ‘n Goblins, to finish off the NES icons.
He said no echo fighters when they were only telling us of the current Fighters Pass last year, so his stance could have changed with this new batch.
So chances are the next set of DLC fighters could be echoes, which raises the question:
Who from the existing rep franchises I mentioned could fill the role of an echo, just to justify another character from those franchises? My thoughts:
Sonic – Classic Sonic (at least having GHZ and Studiopolis music would make more sense)
Mega Man – Roll (since Proto Man is part of his Final Smash)
Pac-Man – Ms. Pac-Man
Cloud – Tidus or Zack? (I know very little about FF)
Bayonetta – Jeanne
Snake – ?
Joker – ?
Hero – ?
Banjo-Kazooie – Yooka-Laylee (close enough)
Terry – ?
Crash Bandicoot is the 3rd party character I want to see

The smart thing to do would be to continue to release new DLC characters to the game for at least 3 years as long as the next batch sells just as well as the current batch. So maybe there still is a chance for Sora, Crono, etc etc.
Basically you want 3 challengers pack (I’m couting also the first one where we got already 3 characters). I think it’s possible.
I don’t know if Sora really has a shot- not only does Sakurai/Nintendo have to deal with Square (who were already pretty stingy regarding Cloud’s inclusion- only two songs and NO spirits? Not even an original render for Cloud for use as one? Seriously?), but also having to contend with Disney’s iron grip, which seems even more formidable after the Sony/Marvel thing with Spider-Man (by the way Disney should have just relinquished to Sony, they already own like 70% of consumable media anyway, they can afford to take a loss).
Good point. Both Squeenix & Disney have made very stupid decisions over the last few years what with them listening to the wrong fucking people on Twitter, Resetera, etc. If it’s not censorship, it’s forced PC bullshit.

As happy as I am to hear this, I wonder what’s ultimately (no pun intended) going to become of Sakurai by the time they’re completely done with the game, if they ever do stop. When’s the last time this guy had a break?

Probably when he was in the hospital & forced to rest after breaking his hand. lol Both him & Nintendo are equally to blame. Nintendo should stop asking him to do stuff & he should actually learn to say no or at least oversee someone else doing it for him so he can rest. Doesn’t take much work to bark orders at someone. He really should take a cue from Miyamoto & Aonuma and train someone to take over Smash for him like they did with Legend of Zelda.
