New Pokemon Sirfetch’d revealed for Pokemon Sword

Sirfetchd

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced today that a new Pokémon has been discovered in the Galar region: Sirfetch’d, the Wild Duck Pokémon. Sirfetch’d will appear in the highly anticipated upcoming video game, Pokémon Sword. Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield launch November 15, 2019, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch™ system.

Sirfetch’d
Category: Wild Duck Pokémon
Type: Fighting
Height: 2’7”
Weight: 257.9 lbs.
Ability: Steadfast

The Farfetch’d of the Galar region can evolve into Sirfetch’d after experiencing many battles. They are calm and collected, and they make a point of always battling fairly. They are so noble in battle that they are often chosen as a motif for paintings. Of particular note is a painting—famous in the Galar region—that depicts a duel between a Sirfetch’d and an Escavalier.

In battle, Sirfetch’d uses the sharp stalk of its leek as a lance and the thick leaves as a shield. It maintains this leek over the span of many years and treasures it more than anything. When its leek finally withers, Sirfetch’d will leave the battlefield and retire from battling entirely.

Meteor Assault is a new move introduced in these games that only Sirfetch’d can learn! Sirfetch’d points its leek at the opponent and charges toward them at great speed. This move is devastatingly powerful! However, it appears that the move also puts great strain on Sirfetch’d. It will be unable to take action immediately after using this move.

  1. Glad farfetch’d finally can become something greater and happy they are doing new evolutions to older Pokémon again. Really looking forward to Sword and Shield

      1. It’s less about spoiling and more about showing the fanbase that they actually worked on something especially after so many fans (not me) are showing some concern for the game bcause of the whole Dexit story.
I couldn’t care less if some pokemon didn’t make it to the final game as long as we get a good amount of new additions though.

        1. Yeah, but there’s nothing saying that there isn’t. They just haven’t shown a lot of the game… Because the last time they did that people complained that they were showing too much of the game.
From what we’ve seen already they’ve definitely “actually worked on something”, it’s just never gonna please the fans because all 1000 pokemon won’t be in it.
Game looks good, definitely not fantastic, certainly not pathetic. Just good.

          1. I meant that the evolution looked pathetic, not the game.
The game already looks alright to me, just not really good, underwhelming even.
Online play seems like fun again, there is actually a better ranking system, from what I hear we’re getting something similar to the PSS instead of the plaza and even wondertrading which leaves us with some new possibilities for our play time.
These alternative forms we’ve seen are IMO very boring since at the end it will still be a zigzagoon, a weezing etc. the final evolution however, design-wise, looks pretty appealing.
But Sirfetch’d? Just stupid – sorry that I can’t share your enthusiasm with the game just yet. I really hope it will appear, I really do since I’ve been playing pokémon for 21 years, but for now I’m going in expecting the worst.

    1. >as long as we get a good amount of new additions though.
I’m the opposite. I could care less about most new Pokemon (unless they’re based of something that’s never been done before like a Peacock). What I really look forward to each generation is new evos, pre-evos, and megas.

      1. Well, since they downright ignore megas, pre-evos dont really change much for me, and new evolutions are bound to that region alongside with their alter forms I really want new Pokémon.
But I gotta agree with you, I want things that were never done before like that teacup pokémon, I’m a sucker for bad design – probably the reason why i love klefki and rotom so much

    1. Sadly, the person in charge of the art direction for the new pokemon is known for making more simplistic and goofy designs, his 1st set Pokemon he added to the series is the Ice Cream set. I know people like rodger base praise him for “understanding how to keep the design simple so they can make toys and plushies of them”, which i always found dumb. They are Pocket Monsters, not Pocket Plushies. Sure, I’m not against their being cute, silly and simplistic Pokemon, but they shouldn’t all be that. I know they’re thought was to have all the British Pokemon be designed by the British artist, but he isn’t the reason people like Pokemon in the first place, in fact, most of his Pokemon where always the ones people pointed out to say Game Freak make bad Pokemon designs since Hen 5.

        1. ???????? I agree there’s a whole lot of poorly designed Pokemon. There’s always been. But there’s been super creatively designed Pokemon all the way up to its latest incarnation, all while not being overdesigned. I think the bigger fan boy blind would be saying there’s no creativity left when gen one and two consist of overly simplistic designs to the point of just being the animals they’re based on.

In Sun/Moon alone they designed many of the Pokemon with a lore in mind as well as how they play in battle with unique mechanics for the most notable ones. That’s good, creative design.

    2. Sorry but some of those beta gen 2 Pokémon look terrible and were rightfully scrapped so I completely disagree that the designs now are any better or worse than previous ones. Every Pokémon design is subjective as to whether you like it or not which is part of the reason why the series is so popular because you don’t have to love every single one but there is something for everyone.

      1. That doesn’t mean that this is okay.

Soon, there won’t be any fans left as part of the official brand (apart from casuals). #BringBackNationalDex is still a thing, and GameFreak has put more priority on Pokemon Masters and Little Town Hero over this game. Pokemon is dieing, and the fate of the franchise will eventually be left in the hands of the fans.

Also, I never said ALL of the beta designs were good (over the existing ones). But you can’t tell me that Sirfetch’d looks better than Madame/Madamu, just because GameFreak snaps their “seal of approval” on it in their latest games. In a world of regional variants and split evolutions, Madamu has a place in the fandom. Besides, if GameFreak is going to give Alolan Raichu over regular Raichu, then the rest of us can easily do the same with Madame over Sirfetch’d.

We HAVE options, and I choose the one that actually LOOKS like an evolved form and not a regional cousin.

  2. I just looked at a picture of Farfetch’d and I sadly have to agree Sirfetch’d looks more like a regional variant than a new evolution. If not for the sword & shield, I definitely would have mistaken him for a regional variant.
