The original design for Sonic in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog Movie didn’t exactly go over well with fans and passerby’s online so subsequently, because of the backlash, the movie was delayed and the character design for Sonic rethought. New images have appeared online which purports to show the new design for then iconic video game hedgehog. Take a look below and hopefully we will get some more clarity regarding whether these are the real deal or simply fake.

If this is real I want to see the movie
“WAH! HIS ARMS ARE STILL BLUE!” Nah just kidding. I wouldn’t care if Sonic was a purple giraffe. After everything Sonic did to Mario and Mega Man, and learning the fact that Sega will never see Sally as anything more than a gender bent Ricky, the Sonic franchise can end for all I care.
I disagree. The design might not be perfect but still is much similar to the original Sonic we all know.
This design is almost perfect but it’s not really that close to his modern game design.
but no one wants the modern game design… right?
Yeah, no one does in this film. but, i believe this design seems much better to me.
Personally I like the modern design but not the Boom design

This does look better. That said, we won’t know just how good it is til we see it in action in a new trailer. Seeing something in motion tends to be better than a still image.
Not that the design really bothered me. It wasn’t a Sonic game, but a movie, so we had quite a distinction between those two mediums that way.
That said, I like this one more… kind of… this film is probably going to be a “so bad it’s good” kind of film, so the other design was kind of more fitting in some bizare way. But yeah, let’s see a trailer!
Those ears doesn’t look the same on those two pictures btw. Don’t know what to make of that.
This movie looks awful regardless of the redesign.
It doesn’t look great, but I don’t hate this. It’s certainly way better than the version we saw back in April- the version that made me almost vomit.
Also is it just me, or does Sonic’s pose in the second shot look just a liiiiitle too similar to his Sm4sh roster/amiibo pose?
