Nintendo has announced this morning that their much-loved Switch family of systems have sold over 10 million units in Japan. This is especially impressive given that the Japanese video game market has been shaken up by smartphone gaming which is the platform of choice in the land of the rising sun. It will be interesting to see just how much of an impact the soon to be released Pokemon Sword & Shield will make once its released on 15th November!
People are still pretending that mobile gaming and dedicated gaming platforms market to the same audience?
In Japan, it does. Home console sales have been going down, while portable consoles have maintained. Japanese people really like gaming on the go
