Atlus: Shin Megami Tensei V still under active development

Atlus has reassured fans in their New Year’s cards featured within the latest edition of Weekly Famitsu that Shin Megami Tensei V is still in active development for the Nintendo Switch platform. This should put fans at ease as it has been a while since we have heard anything about the highly anticipated title. Atlus said the following in the magazine:

Both Shin Megami Tensei V and Project Re Fantasy are under active development.

  1. Why did the website design change? I’m less likely to read articles now because you have to scroll an *entire page* just to see a single article. As far as the user experience goes, it’s a waste of space with no beneficial reason for it.

  2. Not believing until seeing actual footage. Tired of this whole “showing things way too early in development and spending years on end silent about them”.

    1. It’s done to stop people from whining. If they had waited until the game was in a more complete form then they’d have just had years of fans bitching up a storm.

      1. Another reason was the circumstances. Nintendo typically only announces games when they’re closer to release but they needed to sell people on the Switch even if the games weren’t ready yet. Fire Emblem Three Houses was also announced at the Switch presentation and only just got released a few months ago.

So yeah, Nintendo went and did a lot more early reveals of games then than they typically do.
