SEGA’s director of animation says the ‘world is ready for another Sonic TV show’

Comic Book has had the chance to interview Yukio Kusumoto who is SEGA’s Director of Animation. With the success of Sonic’s animated shorts such as Sonic Mania Adventure etc he was asked whether he felt it was time for Sonic to have a new cartoon show on television. Kusumoto replied by saying that he thinks the world is ready for it to happen. Do you think the popularity of these shorts could eventually lead to a full on show in the same style? Is the world ready for another animated Sonic TV show?

Yukio Kusumoto: I think the world is definitely ready for another TV show, and I would love to work on it. There are several discussions and this is coming from me personally […] I would love Sonic to continue, so I’ll keep trying to put more stuff out there.

  1. Well, a new cartoon will be awesome to look forward too. But, I believe, it will be in a different formula and a different art style with a good proper development team. The whole Sonic community will be please for this. until then, lets see what happens once we get close to Sonic’s 30th anniversary in 2021.

  2. I’ll be honest I like almost every sonic cartoon that we gotten but to me sonic x only appeal to me with its artstyle, while boom only appeal to me with its humor if they can combine the two than they’ll obviously have a goldmine

  3. Honestly, I wish they continued Sonic Boom. Against all expectations, it actually became a pretty funny show that I came to look forward to.
