We’ve been seeing some persistent rumors of a new Nintendo Switch model in the works, such as a Switch Pro, for a long while now. However, if you were expecting a new model this year, then that’s about to change. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said in Nintendo’s latest financial briefing that “we believe that it is important to continue to communicate the appeal of both Nintendo Switch systems and expand the installed base. Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model during 2020”.

  1. It is interesting, because general they would say “soon” or “at the moment”. So this may be they are actually being straight forward with the hardware launch. It makes sense to focus more on software when most people are going to be buying the actual brand new consoles over a revision.

    1. they say specifically that they will not release in 2020, last year, they said it with quote, note the word “at this time”, they did not put it in this years report and said it straight away.

Furukawa: “It is an extremely ambitious, but worthwhile achievement. So, we will maintain this goal. Nintendo Switch is our primary sales objective, and we are not considering a successor or a price cut at this time.”

  2. In other words, he wants us to continue stupidly buying the cheaply made piece of shit he’s selling us with no real improvements to it at all.

  3. Makes sense, new Xbox and PS5 are already being released this holiday. Let them fight each other and release something unique later on, that’s Nintendo style anyway.

  4. I think this is a smart decision. They have only just released the Switch Lite so would like to give that a good year or so to find it’s footing and the original/updated Switch is still selling well so there is no obvious need right now. The new Xbox and PS will be the focus at the end of this year and it is pointless trying to compete with them with a new piece of hardware around the time they come out. If they release an upgraded Switch in the first half of next year, whilst the new consoles are still getting started, they can have all the attention on them again with a good proposition of the same great flexibility of the machine with more power, that makes the great library already out look better and more to come.

  5. That’s what you get if you keep clicking click bait video’s on YouTube.

It’s a slow month, so trash channels with no sources like,
ReviewTechUSA, Spawn Wave, SuperMetalDAve64, RGT85 have nothing to tell.

They sure made 1000’s of dollars on click bait nonsense.

Hell even Nintendo magazines had trouble some months, to fill up the magazine with content every month.
These guys spams daily boring stuff about Switch updates … not because it’s interesting, but because
    the Youtube algorithm.

Time and time again, every gen. New kids are born and keep falling for these online charlatans.
Remove the money and they are gone.

Nintendo doesn’t need to introduce new hardware, when the old is still the best selling console at the time.
Nintendo Switch lite is the new system and it’s pretty good improvement, if you only play mobile.

These trash channels with no content, like MetalDave, are crying about a new Switch Pro model since 2017.
This guy is so salty he got called out for his AMD NX nonsense, he went on a full vengeance tour.

Switch PRO is 100% pure speculation and nobody in the world has any sources, nor patents to show for.

No factory in China is now producing a new Switch model. Apple get leaked,
you can be sure Nintendo production will be leaked.

    SO,

If nobody is producing a new Switch model the only way you can now is if you have an insider into Nintendo Hardware development HQ.

Do you guys really believe Reviewtech or Lamdave64 will get insider info ?
Do you really believe someone at Nintendo will risk their dream job for Reviewtech and SaltyDave64.
For what, so they get 50k views and 300 dollars from Google.

    Yeah right.

Nobody knows a thing right now, we only know that New York Times, Salty64 and other @beggars made a good chuck on money and clout.

    Thank for the money, dummies.

  6. Well that’s good and bad.

It’s good because Nintendo can focus on releasing great games throughout the year.

Bad because all these new games such as BoTW2 will not look nor play better because there’s no added performance power.

    1. They could just patch the game to run better on the new model, just like what MS and Sony did with the Xbox X and PS4 Pro.

  7. Interesting. Now why would Nintendo say this on the last day of January? This is exactly what they want Sony and Microsoft to think.

Remeber when Switch was first announced and said they were still going to support Wii U and 3DS?

    They up to something

    1. Nintendo always says they’ll continue supporting the previous console gen on the release of every new one and usually ends up supporting it for the rest of that year tops

  8. Nintendo’s plan is so complicated
They are so secretive more secretive than Microsoft and Sony even.

Example it is easy to predict Sony and Microsoft easier than Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft we just know they will just make more powerful consoles and if in the middle of a generation they make a Pro.

Nintendo on the other hand thinks differently. It is hard to understand Nintendo.

Exactly what is their plan by not making a Pro Switch and still havingn3rd party support when those supporters have to make games for Series X and PS5?

Does Nintendo really think 3rd party supporters will have to make games for 12teroflop consoles then go back to 1 teroflop Switch? Does Nintendo know how much it would cost to make a different game for the Switch and port over Xbox Series X to PS5? Isn’t that quite expensive to do?

Nintendo could show those 3rd party developers how Nintendo knows how to get the most out of what little power Switch has to PS5 and Series X. I just don’t think 3rd party devlopers want to get all the details on how Nintendo pulls off graphics since Wii, Wii U and Switch how the paper work says one thing but surprisingly those systems have visuals better than the paper work.

It is quite Mysterious how something like Switch can pull off Breathe of the wild unlimited world like it does or great looking visuals on Odyssey and Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Wii U’s Pikmin 3 graphics and especially Wii ‘s Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.

How the hell does Mario Galaxy games have visuals on Wii that the paperwork says the Wii is limited to?

  9. Nintendo’s plan by not making a Pro Switch is because Nintendo is thinking of what great visuals they can do with limited hardware. They know how to work with 3 cores from Wii U. I admit I was rather impressed at Wii U’s visuals on Nintendo ‘s triple A tittles. Some people even said out of the Wii U’s lifespan most of those games never used all 3 cores yet and never will now. I don’t even think Nintendo maxed the Switch performance yet. And that’s probably why Nintendo isnt really caring about a Switch Pro.
