Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have sent out a statement today to press to inform them about what has happened regarding the Pokemon Sword & Shield leaks which emerged on social media in early November 2019. Please read the full statement from both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, below.
“In early November, Nintendo identified a number of photographs taken from game play that revealed multiple new and unannounced Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. These photographs had been posted online and Nintendo, together with The Pokémon Company, quickly identified the person responsible for these leaks, and took immediate action.
These Pokémon were leaked by a reviewer for the Portuguese website FNintendo, who had received an early copy of the game for review purposes. Both he and FNintendo failed to handle confidential material, resulting in a clear breach of the confidentiality agreement between Nintendo and the media outlet. As a result, Nintendo will no longer work with FNintendo.
Nintendo will always protect its intellectual property and brands. Leaks hurt not just Nintendo, but the thousands of employees who work hard to bring games to market, and the millions of fans around the world who look forward to news and surprises.
To surprise and delight players through new experiences is a shared passion for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. We will pursue all avenues to preserve surprises for players of future Pokémon titles.”

Well served him right. I really don’t understand how FNintendo manage to go on his way in reviewing copy’s of Future Nintendo titles before it’s getting close on being released. This might explains why GameFreak choose not to reveal the new starter evolutions trailers because they knew something like this is gonna happen once again.
Nintendo, The Pokemon Company need to come up with new policies In order to prevent something like this happens again in future popular games.

I believe that people deserve to know about Dexit and how GameFreak really fucked up.
Leaks have helped with that.
Idk I think fans deserve the choice between whether they want to know what a game has to offer before buying, and starting off totally in the dark and just having faith in the company the game will be something you like.
You mean….. literally waiting just 24 hours after launch for all information and more to come out anyway?

Look at it from this way, Consumers are more cash-strapped than ever. Nintendo is still stuck in the 90s where they believe top pricing of their products believes customers will have something premium in their hands. Not a lot of people have $50-$60 to give out towards Nintendo first-party games all the time.
Since we are living in the age of information, leaks of this kind can occur. Sure yeah, this reviewing website gets kicked to the curb for trying to get clever, but if its not them, it’ll be someone else that’ll leak to the game to try to get in on what the game lacked and show out for notoriety.
GameFreak lacked certain things that made Pokemon what it is and to make matters worse, they did not use the full power of the Nintendo Switch when the console is a lot more powerful than the Nintendo 3DS.

What? How old are you? This is very close to being the exact opposite of the truth. The economy is significantly *better* than it has been the last two console generations.

This isn’t a 90’s thing. Its a basic concept of branding. More significantly, you’re just plainly incorrect. Nintendo has proven quite thoroughly that maintaining brand value is a successful strategy.Go look at Switch software sales.

Game prices have been the same for 30 years in spite of inflation. This explains in part why software sales in general are so much higher….because literally the opposite of what you claim is happening. People are more willing than ever to plunk down the cash for a new game.

If the complaint were just that there was a leak, sure. That makes sense. Unfortunately that’s an imaginary complaint that didn’t happen. The actual complaint is that someone who was given a review copy conditional on an agreement did not abide by that agreement. It is actual and literal theft. A broken contract. If you can get access to the information and leak it without breaking an agreement with Nintendo, fine. I don’t care, and the courts wouldn’t either.

This is all true….. and irrelevant to the topic at hand.
I understand that but some of them just want to be nosey and be greedy. Developers from gamefreak is trying to deliver the best experience for future pokemon games. So, they want to keep things a secret to surprise fans around the world. Besides, I don’t know what FNintendo is anyway.
Lmao, those leaks were well needed tho. You hype everyone up for a Home Console Pokemon game that’s just half-assed, cut content, short, and you already plan to have em pay for DLC to unlock what should’ve already been included. FNintendo did us a huge favor. They’re just salty that they couldn’t deceive everyone into buying their horrible game XD.
Except you don’t have to “pay” to unlock anything? Any returning Pokemon will be available via a free update. You don’t even need to get Pokemon HOME. You could just trade with people who do and get previously unavailable Pokemon. All still for free.
They say more than 200 Pokemon are returning, but over 400 Pokemon were cut.
In short, we don’t even if ALL the Pokemon will be returning in the expansion pass, or if there will be a second expansion pass, or if their justification that “there are too many Pokemon now and in the future titles to include them all” was just a huge lie to build up the big reveal of the expansion pass.
Regardless of what we know now, GameFreak still came up with at least one lie. And with the underwhelming amount of content/Pokemon in games since Gen 6, along with their pricing, restrictions, and legal methods, GameFreak just can’t be blindly trusted anymore (or else risk being screwed out of your time and real money for products that disappoint).
