The latest monthly NPD report came out earlier than usual this month, but it’s out. With New Year’s now just a memory, the NPD reports are mostly back to normal, but there has been one change. Sales data for the 3DS was not included this time. It is the first time since 2004 that a report from the NPD did not include the sales for a Nintendo DS and/or 3DS family handheld. As for the sales charts, Smash Ultimate had another month of success. You can see the sales charts down below.

Suprised not to see Pokémon in the best-selling games of the last 12 months especially because it sold 17 million units world wide.
Also NPD should club Sword and Shield under one game entry.
Agreed. Not sure why they don’t pack them together. That would be like counting a “day one edition” or “collector’s edition” separately.
I mean, you said so yourself. It’s because those 17 million units are split between Sword and Shield versions. Neither one of those individually sold enough to make it in even if combined they would have.
