Atlus says Persona 5 on Switch won’t happen unless fans keep asking for it

Nintendo Switch fans are used to asking developers to bring their games to the popular platform and one of those games is Persona 5. IGN recently chatted with Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula about whether or not the intensive JRPG will come to Nintendo’s latest platform. Advincula said that basically if fans want it they need to let the developer know. However, I’m sure many of you have done just that on social media. We shall have to wait and see whether something materialises.

You want what you want,” she explained, “and if you don’t let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.” Advincula said Atlus is listening and does see the desire for Persona 5 on Switch, saying “it’s important to always voice your opinion.”

Advincula encouraged fans to “keep telling us what you want,” saying she was fighting for it internally as well. However, it’s important to point out that she also said she’s obviously “not the decision-maker” in a situation like this despite being an “internal champion” for it, so this shouldn’t be taken as an indication of what is happening or could happen down the line.

  1. tbh I this point im not gonna ask for it. I beat it on ps54. I’m gonna beat P5R when it comes out on ps4. I don’t plan on playing this a third time so I wont spend my money on it a third time.

    1. Same.
Played it for the first time on PS4, planned to get P5R on Switch if it released but I’ll just stick to PS4.
I also have to finish P2 Innocent Sin

    2. I’m not playing royal. P5 was just way too long for me personally. I don’t have that kind of time to invest in it again lol it was fun and I completed it but the end was dragging along for me. Im getting p5s though.

  2. ‘Yes, ATLUS fans,’ said Ari Advincula, ‘keep begging us, do it with your mouths, petition us on your knees, sign ’em good and proper, do it if you want to see your precious P5 on Switch, ohh yeah, grovel before us like the dirty fanboys you are…’

  3. Seriously? People have been asking for nearly three years now. You’ve had a history of making your deluxe editions of Persona titles on handheld systems. You also probably know that games like this sell better on the Switch, especially in Japan. Don’t be surprised when P5R sells a fraction of the original because it’s on the exact same system and is still pretty niche by gaming standards.

That’s not what this is about though. I bet Sony’s done writing you exclusivity checks for P5 right?

  4. Well how about we just BULLY AND THREATEN THEM AND MAKE CONSTANT HATE MEMES AND VIDEOS ABOUT THEM UNTIL THEY BREAK AND GIVE US WHAT WE FUCKING WANT?! THAT ALWAYS WORKS NOW INSTEAD OF REAL CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK!

  5. Pathetic response from a company that makes poor decisions. When it comes I’ll get it but I’m not begging for anything.

  6. Will not be getting P5R even though the new content DOES sound great. I wish it was dlc for people who own the original.

However if R comes to switch I will double dip. Can’t wait for P5S, though!!

  7. It’s a PR answer. No matter how things work out, whether its ported or it isn’t ported for any reason at all, the result can be claimed to be due to the fans, not a business decision.

  8. With the “minor” censoring going on in their games lately, I’m not shocked they are basically asking people to port beg. If anyone should be begging, it’s the company when they want us customers to buy their product.

    1. Yep, I just heard about the censorship in the Royal version a couple hours ago. I wonder if Sony is to blame. Maybe they can release it unaltered if they port it to Switch.

      1. @BSkullClad Some scenes that I guess are considered “homophobic”. It has something to do with a beach apparently. I haven’t played the original so I’m not as familiar with the context.
