It is not an understatement to say that The Wonderful 101: Remastered‘s Kickstarter campaign was an overwhelming success for the team at Platinum Games. The campaign has officially closed with over $2.25 million dollars in funding. To put this in perspective the original goal was $50,000. So what you will get come May is The Wonderful 101: Remastered, a Time Attack mode and an orchestral arrangement. There will also be the new Luka’s First Mission and Luka’s Second Mission.
Nostalgia at it’s finest
How? Games that are 5 – 6 years old don’t qualify for Nostalgia.
Sure they do. There isn’t a certain amount of time needed to qualify for having nostalgia. It’s just typically associated with older things. 5-6 years is still a long time.
Anything that elicits a positive memory is nostalgia technically.
The age of the games isn’t what makes this clearly not nostalgia, but the fact that basically nobody bought the game the first time around, and the ones that did will still have it and no need for a nearly identical port.
Its clearly loyalty to the name Platinum, rather than nostalgia for a failed game that hasn’t even developed a cult following. That said, there is literally nothing that is even slightly evocative of the past that someone on a gaming forum won’t call a nostalgia gimmick.
Say what now? 😂 I think you have nostalgia confused with Nintendo and Platinum quality. Nintendo gamers are so used to having the best we know what to back. Plus the developers at platinum are amazing as people. A bit shrewd at times, but decent.

Gutted I didn’t get round to backing it due to saving funds for a trip to Japan. Still, it’s great to see it being a resounding success for the team. It says a lot for future kickstarters of this nature!
I agree, it does say a lot for future kickstarters of this nature. Unfortunately I don’t think it says anything good. Given the turnaround time on the port, the work was clearly already done and very possibly was even already in physical production. Not a big fan of companies taking advantage of their fans as unpaid venture capital. Kickstarter isn’t really about making projects happen that wouldn’t otherwise anymore. Its a glorified preorder system, barely with benefits exceeding the Gamestop preorders people have been making fun of for years.
was going to back this at first, but it got lost in the shuffle. Did they offer anything special to backers who just wanted a normal retail copy of the game who wont be able to get it at launch? Like a special cover or something?
Well, good things will always comes around when you are funding projects and everything for your liking. This game might be fun but i could give it a try once it comes out.
