A Nintendo of America employee has tested positive for the coronavirus

Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic has not gotten any better. Nintendo has been monitoring the situation very closely. Washington state, which is the location of Nintendo of America’s headquaters, has been hit hard by the pandemic. And, unfortunately, there has been some more bad news reported tonight. Nintendo has confimed to the Seattle Times that a Nintendo of America employee has tested positive for the virus, and that there were other Nintendo workers that have had contact with them as well.

Nintendo sent a statement saying that all of the Nintendo employees who were in contact with the one that tested positive are now “in self-quarantine, whether they have symptoms or not”.  Nintendo also says that they are “supporting this individual as they recover and will continue to take precautions to safeguard the health and well-being of all our employees and the broader community”. For now, Nintendo is letting all of their employees in Washington state and California to work from home.

    1. “Not negative.”

Was that a weird pun, or is this you trying to stress people out even further.

I’m just waiting for a the next batch of game reveals for this year before I SNAP!

        1. And you’re not winning any popularity contests by calling me (the guy who’s located in another part of the world, and who you can’t even see) “kiddo”.

              1. Honestly, I would not recommend continuing this argument about this. Actually, scratch that. Why are you recently replying to my comment anyway? Your argument is started to get boring and annoying.

  1. This is some what related to the article, but I have seen some people responded to this situation on social media saying “oh my gawd were not going to get a direct with this occuring” like can you guys please chill people are out here dying because of this, you’re out here yelling about a direct.

    1. People are so crazy and entitled these days about the most minor things and when it comes to something they SHOULD worry about it flys over their head because if it’s not about them or what they want, they just don’t care. SMH

I’d like a Direct as much as anyone but to say it’s more important than dealing with a pandemic is just crazy.

      1. I just want everyone I know to survive this and have this disease behind us as fast as possible. Directs, games and consoles launchs will help ease the stress for many people and be a bright spot in their day; but it shouldn’t be the main focus. Let’s think about eachother and let things as Directs come when they comes.

      2. And what exactly are the rest of us “entitled people” supposed to DO while this is “more important”?

Take solace in random 4chan “leaks”?

        1. There is nothing you can do so raising a fuss won’t do you any good. Besides we’re probably getting a Direct soon unless this thing gets really out of hand which if it does you’ll just have to wait till the virus runs it’s course.

    2. “People are dying”…… yeah, the elderly and people who suffer from pre-existing immune defiances like Diabetes… but the virus only has a 5.8% of killing you, 94.2% chance you’ll live.

Stop spreading fear and start being smart.
Wash your hands and stay safe.

Also, people begging for a direct need to learn patients as the health of the employees matters more than some digital direct.

      1. I’m not spreading fear buddy me saying people are dying goes for that, I don’t think it’s right that people with health issues and people who are eldery are dying period, I been washing my hands and staying safe, thats something I been doing before this issue occur, how about asking me full details on that qoute, before making a untelligent comment.

Dude, did you even read his post? Yes people are dying from it but that wasn’t the point he was making. The point was that people are straight up moaning that the corona virus could have an effect on their beloved Nintendo Directs.
He wasn’t trying to fear monger, he was pointing out that this shouldn’t even be compared to something as trivial as a Nintendo Direct.

      3. Yeah I should not complain about the Nintendo Direct. It can cause the Coronavirus to increase more in the US and other states. So we don’t know if we ever get a Nintendo Direct or we might get nothing at all.

      4. +ShinyGold2
But people have died from it. Sure it’s not exactly a mass-destructive virus that’s causing the deaths of millions but it doesn’t mean it’s not true.
Would you rather people cover it up and make them not aware of the reality? I’d argue that’s even worse than saying people have died from it.

      5. @Christopher James People are dying from the virus, yes, but the majority of those deaths are the elderly or people with compromised immune systems. People need to understand that events are being canceled to keep the virus under control in order to not overwhelm the healthcare system and that they shouldn’t be doing anything besides being more cautious with washing their hands and touching their face, not stocking up for a year’s worth of supplies. This hysteria is preventing a lot of people who are at actual risk of death from getting the supplies they need to stay safe.

    3. I take it you are referring to me. I apologize for what I said 2 days ago. I was out of medication. Besides, I already told myself that I don’t expect this decade to be better than the last, so this shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

      1. Lol no I wasn’t refering to you I was actually refering to the people who were making stupid responses on nintendo life, twitter, and etc. Were cool rix

      1. People are…………….

human, who can only do so much, but are allowed enjoy their lives, with greying a strand of hair for each covid-19-related news report.

  2. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

DAMM. This year really suck. Everyday the situation is always worst than yesterday.

      1. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

We are basically closed in our houses. If you go outside your house you have to do it only for work or for buying food in supermarkets but now the streets are empty. Even in the morning.

Everyday is passing I only hear the corona virus is expanding.

          1. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

            I don’t use both. Why?

  3. I’m getting mighty sick of this coronavirus crap. At the same time, I can’t help but wonder if it’s really worse than the flu. Since I heard that thousands (or was it millions) die from the flu each year as well. I’m more worried about my mom getting it than myself. I’m also worried about stores not getting more stock of things I need, like water (I refuse to drink tap). Couldn’t find any the other day, except for one dollar store that had some. Everyone is going nuts buying stuff. Can’t wait until this whole thing is over. I just hope I can continue going for my daily walks.

    1. I hear there’s some pretty good filters for your sink faucet. That may be something worth investing in. I think I’ve heard of one called Pür or something like that

    2. It’s not worse than the flu. Covid-19 only proved fatal to those with weakened immune systems. Drink Fire Cider (boosts your system with a jump start), drink some kefir (increases your microbiome and all the good bacteria, gives your body all amino acids), drink golden milk (boosts your immune system), take ginger, teas, tumeric, or just don’t eat junk food or the “American Diet”. Do any of these and you won’t have anything to worry about.

  4. Smh, everyone should’ve already been working from home the moment cases started popping up in Washington. They decided to wait until a pandemic is declared and Washington is called the center of it to have everyone work from home. By this time, the majority of Nintendo’s Employees already have it. It’s hilarious how such an easy virus was allowed to get this out of hand because everyone reacted so slowly and poorly….

  5. We’ve established that we don’t need an E3 event for game reveals, and that it’s not worth risking sickness.

That still doesn’t justify Nintendo being hush-hush, while the rest of us are going crazy.

AFAIC, there are TWO pseudo-related things going on, and one doesn’t necessarily prevent the other.

I wonder if Nintendo still has enough manpower to release stability updates (because fans taking content into their own hands, i.e. hacking/modding, has always been a long documented form of instability).
