Nintendo revealed yesterday that around 160,000 Nintendo Accounts were accessed by third parties and has encouraged people to use two-factor authentication on their accounts. UK-based publication The Dorset Echo spoke to Dorset Police’s Cyber Crime Unit about the breach who have reiterated Nintendo’s stance and have advised consumers to do the following:
“If you have a Nintendo Online account, take the time to check your sign in history.
“If there is anything there that you do not recognise, change your password as soon as you can.
“Nintendo Online also allows the use of Two Factor Authentication, which we strongly recommend implementing if you haven’t already.– Dorset Police’s Cyber Crime Unit
