Sonic the Hedgehog social media manager Aaron Webber has announced that future Sonic games will be given longer development times to bring the franchise up to the quality that the fans rightly expect. This should come as a relief to many as the last major Sonic title Sonic Forces simply just wasn’t up to scratch. It also explains why SEGA hasn’t announced a new mainline release for the franchise, though this could change as it is presumed that one could be announced at the Game+ Expo showcase which begins on 23rd of June.
Take your time SEGA.

I never thought I’d see the day where Sega finally decided to give the Sonic games more dev time so they can improve the quality. I’ve been wanting to see Sonic rise back in quality again and this might just be the solution. Let’s hope Sonic finally goes from the mediocrity of Forces back something great or even amazing if we’re lucky.
Didn’t Sonic Forces have 4 years of dev time? Yet even then it still felt rushed. Taking their time may help prevent making glitchy disasters, but I feel like there’s more issues they have to resolve.
It did, but the first two years were before the big SEGA re-structure in 2015.
Yes they did and they rush the game like they did with Sonic 06.
They spent most of the time on the hedgehog engine 2. I like to imagine forces was planned to be a test game and to see all the criticism. I mean, it wasn’t sold for 60 dollars like SWSH right
Whatever price it was sold for was too much. That game isnt even worth it if it’s free as its still 2 funless hours you can never get back.
Pokemon SWSH don’t really have anything to do with this and they aren’t comparable at all, but at least for what SWSH was missing and did wrong it was still a fun game.

How they didn’t reach this conclusion after Sonic 06, and then Rise of Lyric, baffles me.
Because in short dev time, they also made amazing games like generations, colors, and some could say unleashed
Mmm no need to explain Aaron and SEGA. Take your time. I’m not complaining.
And that means, no coming up with half-baked ideas within a single year (and then lying to fans), while dicking around at Hooters, Hello Kitty promotions, calling Alex Hirsch over to your headquarters to help you with your cryptic 2016 hints, or terrible live stream events.
Some Jet Set Radio would be nice
I’m waiting for an adventure reboot still. Heck I’ll even take a remaster if they can’t match the open world aspect of that game anymore.
A remastered of Adventure would be great but without all of the gliches like skipping entire level sections and not detecting collisions.
So in other words, less fun/freedom.
Glitches didn’t become a serious issue in 3D Sonic games until Sonic ’06 (among other things).

Here’s what they should do- give Sonic a big, GOOD, 30th anniversary game (and let us play as other characters again, like Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Silver, etc.), then give him a break and work on other SEGA franchises that haven’t seen any love for awhile. I’d like to see a Billy Hatcher HD remaster/remake or even a sequel, myself.
That’s what a want from a Sonic game. Playing with other characters too. And this can be done with a Sonic adventure game.
I wish they can do that again, but we all know that might not happen again anytime soon. i still miss playing as other characters. I still want to play as Sonic but there are other characters out there that need a playable role.

Did they really think rushed dev cycles were making their games better?
They used to do that back then, but now they are just taken there time in order to get Sonic just right. Also, I was expecting them to not rush through the development process for Future Sonic games.
They said the same thing before Forces.
Forces wasn’t an 06 mind you, but it certainly needed more time than what it got.
I want sonic adventure, sonic adventure 2, sonic heroes, shadow the hedgehog, sonic riders, sonic battle, sonic unleashed, sonic the fighters, sonic r, sonic and sega all stars racing , sonic racing transformed and the sonic advance trilogy ported to Nintendo switch digitally in the United States. Blaze or Tails should have been playable on sonic forces instead of classic sonic. Cream should have appeared on sonic forces instead of charmy. Iron fortress is the worst sonic forces level due to the auto scrolling segment. My disappointment in big the cat and omochao being playable on team sonic racing is that they took priority over preferred characters such as cream (fly), nights (fly), reala (fly), wave (fly), storm (power), billy hatcher (power), aiai (power), chaos zero (power). Those characters should have been dlc with jet (speed), ulala (speed), amigo (speed), and sticks (speed).
