Monolith Soft says they created Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition’s Future Connected epilogue for “two and a half reasons”

Tetsuya Takahashi, Monolith Soft president and creator, was featured in a new Famitsu issue that is out this week. In the issue, Takahashi reveals why Monolith Soft decided to make the Future Connected epilogue for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, which slated to release on the Nintendo Switch on May 29th. You can see what Takahashi said, thanks to Nintendo Everything’s translation, down below.

“It’s because we felt bad for Melia… I’m only half-joking when I say that. With Future Connected, we’re able to draw in those who’ve already played Xenoblade Chronicles; moreover, there’s details there that connect to the future of Xenoblade. So we created it for two and a half reasons. Another rationale being we had an unused map from the main game, the Bionis’ shoulder, which was appropriate for the setting”.

  2. I hope one of them is XENOBLADE X, TAKAHASHI. I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR A PORT AND A SEQUEL FOR WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER DAMN YOU.
Sorry about that, I hope one of those reasons if Xenoblade X in some form.

  3. Now the only thing we need is a Xenosaga Trilogy remake / port and a Xenoblade Chronicles X port.

  4. This is awesome. Love that it was kinda a passion project for them. I would love to see X definitive or X2 on the Switch as well. I enjoyed that it was more open/exploration driven, and I still enjoyed the storyline (that took a back seat for that adventure). If they could add hit detection, increase pop-in range, and add the ability to drop affinity main story quests like everything else – I would gladly call that “Definitive”. An extra arc like Future Connected would make me very happy.
