UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is No.1 this week

The latest UK video game software charts are now in and it is the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch which has taken the No.1 spot this week. Borderlands: Legendary Collection for Nintendo Switch entered at No.18 and BioShock: The Collection for Switch entered the charts at No.22. The recently released Minecraft Dungeons, which is multiplatform, was not sold physically as it was a digital only release, so it isn’t in the charts. The XCOM 2 Collection for Switch was also digital only and so not included.

The remake of the Wii RPG sold more than double that the original managed back in August 2011. Its sales are slightly below that of the launch of 2017’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which arrived on Switch during the Christmas sales window.

Here is the GfK Top Ten for the week ending May 30th

  1. As said in the article, sold slightly less than XC2, but that was in Christmas period and not during lockdown when people obviously can’t buy physical copies from actual shops – so I wouldn’t be surprised if physical + digital is higher than XC2. I can say for myself that I bought this game digitally.

  2. Good to see Xenoblade getting more attention. My copy is showing up tomorrow.
My only concern so far is the game looks awful to play in handheld mode, much like XC2 was.
I also totally forgot how slow and grindy the opening is.
