The original Shantae and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge are coming to Nintendo Switch

WayForward has confirmed today on Twitter that the original Game Boy Colour Shantae and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut are headed to the Nintendo Switch system. Both games will be available to purchase both digitally and physically. Limited Run Games will be handling the physical editions. The original Game Boy Colour Shantae will be available to pre-order in September and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut is due digitally this fall with a physical version at a later date.

  1. So, every single possible Shantae game is going to be on the Switch.

    Shantae confirmed for Smash Bros!

I’ll probably get Risky’s Revenge, but I already have a physical copy of Shantae GBC along with the 3DS download. Ah heck, I’ll probably still get it too. It depends on the price.
If the Switch UI had folders, I’d have to make a Shantae folder.

  2. It’s Game Boy Color, not Colour.
I know different countries have their own pronunciation, but this is more so a product title rather than every day conversation.

I’m in Canada, and even we do it Colour, but because it’s a Nintendo product, that’s what it will go by on shelves. Plus, we’re as weak as our dollar, so if rather spell it out the same way more interesting countries do, anyhow.

  3. As much as I love Shantae, still hurts me that the 3DS got shafted of the Director’s Cut version…and I am getting really sick of this physical limited time releases. Being from another country makes them a pain and almost 0 chances to get them from me (already happened with Seven Sirens and up to this day I am still looking stores to get a physical copy of Half Genie Hero in south america)

    1. Just get it shipped from abroad.
Switch is region free. I Purchased mega man 11 and monster boy brand new from North America coz no physicals in uk.

      1. (Just get it shipped from abroad.)

Alright, tried that, aaaand it’s already sold out, AGAIN.
        Any other idea?

    2. I agree with brad10do about having it shipped abroad. Limited Run Games ships internationally. And they give a lot of notice before their preorders go live. And their preorders are open for a long time. AND their preorders are typically open-ended (they don’t “run out” of preorders – they determine the exact number of copies to produce based on the number of preorders received once the preorder window closes).

So if you want the physical game from them, you should be able to make it happen. Just don’t wait around and expect to buy a used copy after it comes out for a reasonable price.
