  1. …Well THAT was pointless.

Cadence of Hyrule: Good for those who play and like it, but I’m not interested.

Rogue Company update: Oh. Who cares?

Shin Megami Tensei III Remastered: Meh.

    Shin Megami Tensei V: Meh.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds: What. The. Actual. Fuck. Who thought THIS would be good for a tiny Direct? Waste of time and my attention span.

    1. How can you can 真・女神転生 meh?
Shin megami tensei 4 was one of the very best 3ds Games.

Of course, if I had never played it and was only hoping for first party announcements I’d be meh too… Give it a try!

I like to say it’s Pokemon for grown ups. But then again Pokemon is my favorite franchise.

      1. I know what SMT is and that it’s popular. I also know Persona is like a side-series set in the same universe and I love 5 (Royal) and 4 Golden. I’m just not sure I would find the same charm in SMT as I do in Persona. There’s something about the concept of high school students living double lives (like a team investigating a string of murders in P4 or the Phantom Thieves stealing the hearts of terrible people in P5). Part of me is even like “why couldn’t my high school years be this interesting? All I had was drama club and being rejected by every girl I tried asking out.”

What I really think, is that there was no need for a Direct- of any length- to announce any of these games/DLC.

    2. While it’s a shame there’s nothing for you I’m sure there are others out there (myself included) who are quite excited. I’m especially looking forward to two Shin megami tensi games. Always remember one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

  2. For some reason, the Nintendo Direct Mini doesn’t show much like a normal Nintendo Direct on how it used to be. Besides’s Nintendo was very quite on breath of the wild 2, Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 development since we didn’t get any new details from those games. How tragic. Now some people find this showcase a bit boring now.

    1. MP4 restarted development just last year. It’s still too early for anything on that. There’s so much planning and work that goes into making a game that big. The biggest offender, I think, is still having nothing on Bayo 3. It’s coming up on 3 years since it was announced. I’m glad they’re taking their time, but I also would like to see a short gameplay snippet. Something small. The wait has been a bit too long on that one.

      1. Yeah, i suppose your correct on that one. I guess it is a bit too early for Metroid Prime 4.

But, i do wanted to see more news about Bayonetta 3 very soon from Platinum Games. Its been 3 years since it was announced at the game awards.

Also, the only thing i wanted to see from another company now is SEGA showcase some short footage on a new mainline Sonic title this year if we ever get a chance to see one this one.

  3. There are a few more games in the Japanese direct. I believe at least one additional game had a Western release date.

  4. I wasn’t even disappointed, I’m not getting any one of these games though, but what is up with Nintendo marketing now majority of content they been putting out could have been upload in short 2-5 mins trailers separately instead of having a dedicated mini direct I thought April last year direct was better than this and it was fill to the brim with RPGs, this feels almost as weird as the July treehouse segment, I guess the weird part about is that they mention they’ll be more partner showcases meaning we probably won’t be getting a normal direct or any first party title soon, I heard Japan mini direct was better anyway.

    1. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

I can confirm the Japan direct mini is better than 8 minutes we got.

      1. I mean I get that we are in a pandemic, but
Nintendo could at least show us something that there working on, at least some type of reassurencs, this year felt dryer than all the Wii u dry years

    2. Well, we won’t be getting a normal direct back anytime soon because of the outbreak. Nintendo used to show off big things at the end of the direct, but in the direct mini, it doesn’t. This Mini direct doesn’t show much that we are hoping for but it will do for now.

If i have to guess, Nintendo wanted us to wait for the big finale soon for there future Nintendo Switch titles once things is shuttle for the company from the virus. The world is still in shambles from the virus and some people out there are not following the rules and never pay attention. I also weeks ago that a Nintendo employee got the virus.

      1. Which is why I said I understand the issue of the pandemic, I know we aren’t going to be getting a normal direct soon, but they clearly stated that development has been running smooth at financial fiscal meeting, so where is the first party games most games developments for Nintendo take up to 3-6 years to develop, and sequels games start development after the first game is release is usually release

        1. Yeah, that’s true. but, it does takes 3 to 4 years in development time and they always have a discussing meeting on what are they gonna develop next.

However, I still i understand the crisis we are in now, but soon, we might get a small peak of other games that are in developing by Nintendo and other companies soon.

Things might get normal soon, but not for Nintendo development team just yet.

  5. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

    WORST NINTENDO DIRECT EVER!!!

  6. So I’m assuming this is not an official Nintendo direct, but more a direct on partner games, but like an indie showcase sort of thing.
    Bloody hope so!

  7. SMT was all I wanted to see tbh so I thought the direct was great. They said ealier today this would only show games partners are working on and it was only 10mins long so I wasnt expecting much at all. It was also much better than the crap GameFreak put out a few weeks ago – Pokemon Unite (created with Tencent no less) – when everyone wanted gen 4 remasters…

  8. I still have faith Nintendo will announce 1 or 2 holiday titles. That Mario 35th anniversary mashup game seems like a good guess. We’ll probably get more info within the next month or two. I figured this year would be dry with the pandemic going on and bigger titles like Metriod Prime 4 and Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 being worked on with a later year in mind.

  9. Pretty lame video. The only good thing was SMTV. But that’s also next year. I keep hoping that Nintendo will break their silence, but I’m starting to think this year is just gonna be very dry for them. It’s like they don’t want to admit how much COVID impacted their game development. Oh well.

  10. Well the conservative approach they’re taking is better than announcing a load of games only to delay the release date due to volitile work enviroment. Last time they delayed a game was Animal Crossing and they lost $1Billion in value which pissed off the shareholders.

  11. Candece of Hyrule physical version with all DLC (better not be a damn voucher) makes this direct completely worth it.Only thing that would make it better is if it had the original Necrodancer in a bundle with it.

  12. Nintendo Directs haven’t been the same since Iwata-san passed away.
I do like the idea of this being a series of videos though. I gotta give the new president props for that. We might not get the chock full direct we want, but one of those videos should have something worth buying.
Although I’m personally not a fan, the Shin Megami Tensei series is a good one, and Nintendo Switch deserves its exclusivity. After all, the series started on Nintendo.
I do like Cadence of Hyrule, but I don’t know if I like it enough for paid DLC. It is a nice gesture for those more beat savvy then I am though.
The rest? I’m not really caring for any of them. Although when I saw the title Rogue Company, I thought we might be getting a Rogue Squadron sequel or Spin-off, which would have been epic!

Off topic, this website could really use a forum.

    1. I’m the same way, but not because I find Nintendo lacking. I just have games that I find play better with a mouse and keyboard (like Terraria or any FPS), or games that just aren’t on the Switch (Subnautica and No Man’s Sky being a couple of those).

  13. Nintendo were very careful to minimise expectations for this Direct, and so I could hardly come away disappointed when I expected nothing. The thing is, we’re sat here with not one major Nintendo release known to be coming for the rest of this year, and I just think it’s not tenable to leave the situation like that for so long. If those Mario remasters are coming, then that really will be something, and it is beyond time to show them.

  14. I’m not disappointed. This is what I expected. Nothing I care about. I swear, lately sites like Limited Run Games (and similar companies) have been providing more physical release games on Switch than Nintendo (even though they’re not the creators of the games). And my money shows. I can’t save my money for anything else anymore. I’m starting to lose all hope for a Pikmin 4. Nintendo is S L O W !

  15. What’s to be disappointed about? Why were your expectation be high anyway? It’s a pandemic and it’s affecting development timelines. Heck even if we don’t get any directs this year, I will be indifferent. Honestly it’s not so bad when you compare H1, 2019 with H1 2020. We got the same amount of games.

Plus I think Nintendo does not want to show their cards to early on since the holiday season will go by default to those who are releasing new consoles. So in a way Nintendo is treading carefully and handpicking which games and when will they release.

Also, it seems that newer games have adopted a new model similar to MMOs where they release DLCs/Expansions over a long period of time (Pokémon, FE3H, Luigis Mansion, Cadence of Hyrule) which keeps the game alive for a longer time. I don’t see this as a problem unless it comes at the cost of affecting the development of newer games.

    1. “Plus I think Nintendo does not want to show their cards to early on since the holiday season will go by default to those who are releasing new consoles. So in a way Nintendo is treading carefully and handpicking which games and when will they release.”

Yeah if that will help you sleep at night.

  16. I hope PS5 blows Switch out the water like the PS4 did Wii U. Why?
Because everytime that happens then Nintendo gets serious and begins making games. They ain’t did shit in R&D.

  18. Pitiful. I bet many people are eyeing Sony/Microsoft next generation hardware. Too few games now on Switch, and pathetic announcements.
