Thanks to a new annual financial report from Nintendo, the annual wages for the likes of Shigeru Miyamoto and Shuntaro Furukawa have been revealed. In comparison, they’re rather modest if you line them up against Activision’s Bobby Kottick and EA’s Andrew Wilson who earn over $30 million each year.
- Shuntaro Furukawa: $2.4m ($0.73m basic + $1.67m bonus)
- Shigeru Miyamoto: $1.8m ($0.67m basic + $1.13m bonus)
- Shinya Takahashi: $1.24m ($0.11m basic + $1.13m bonus
You can check out the table below to see for yourself. Thank you to Daniel Ahmad, a senior analyst at Niko Partners, for reporting on this.
This is so confusing, did y’all actually take down the article about the Mini Direct? Lmao.
Nope! My bad! IGNORE ME!!
Now I’m confused? 🤔
I was too mua5… I was too.
Somehow I didn’t know what to expect, but these amounts are exactly what I expected. Good for them.
All that money and only get a game every 8 years or longer. Someone needs a pay cut.
For people who are this well recognized sitting at the top of a multi-billion dollar company, I think 1-2 million a year isn’t at all outrageous, even if they are doing nothing (which I don’t think is true). If anything, it’s amazing how low these salaries are.
I think it should be at that level. Of course when you have a talented CEO which pulls the company forward they’ve deserved to earn a little extra dosh, but when they’re earning an employee’s life time earning in a few months, it’s getting stupid.
Nat, if they arent loafing around then why is Metroid Prime on Gamecube and Metroid Prime 3 closer in years than future Meteoid Prime 4?
Why is Pikmin 1 and 2 closer in year than Pikmin 3 ? And why is future Pikmin 4 supposed to be nearly complete further in years from Pikmin 3?
And where they doing between the gaps in years if they were working?
You have no idea how businesses work apparently
You apparently have no idea why why the gap in years between Pikmin 1 and 2 are closer than Pikmin 3 is because if you did you would had answered it.
Quite low all things considered. The things Miyamoto could do with name recognition alone could easily eclipse two million a year.
Now in fairness to EA, not something I’ve said before and probably not something I’ll say again, their hiring situation is very very different. They have little to no brand loyalty, meaning their position on the market requires much more consistent mistake-free decisions to maintain themselves, and do not have a ready stock of legacy employees promoted from within over decades to take the role. They have to buy employees who got their executive experience elsewhere, at top dollar because they have to outbid every other major company. Its like comparing something you made yourself, like, a table, to a table purchased form a high end furniture store. Of course the one you had to shop for will be more expensive in terms of dollars. But you also didn’t have to spend three decades mastering the craft yourself.
Must be nice to get paid and only work every 6 years making 1 game then do nothing after the game goes on sale.
Game development process take a lot of time. He do nothing about few month, then he start new project
Yeah I understand. You have to create a tittle. A plot design the characters, stages and be sure the system the devlopers are working it on doesnt make it too powerful to damage the hardware. But man is it frustrating when a devloper promised you something five years ago and nothing happend yet.
