If you are wondering which physical games and download cards have sold the most in Japan during the first half of the year then Japanese chart tracker Famitsu has published the top selling games of 2020 so far. If you’ve been checking the site then you won’t be too surprised to see that Animal Crossing: New Horizon is the No.1 by a staggering amount. It is followed by the long-awaited first instalment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the latest Pokemon title, Pokémon Sword & Shield. The Nintendo Switch’s lifetime sales are also now past 14 million units. Here’s the top ten so far:

- Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4 / Square Enix) – 931,165
- Pokémon Sword & Shield (Switch / The Pokémon Company) – 650,859

- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch / Nintendo) – 346,034
- Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Switch / Nintendo) – 284,717
- Minecraft (Switch / Microsoft) – 280,662
- Resident Evil 3 Remake (PS4 / Capcom) – 263,625

Pokémon SwSh global sales is around 20M. It’s strange that Japan’s sales are less than 1M given that it is a main market.
yes my thoughts to.
this can be correct because in japan the games sold 5 Million times, so that could be right. the game is released in november 2019. the lockdown gave the game a boost.

They’re only reporting 2020 sales, it doesn’t include lifetime sales (remember the game came out last year)
