Tokyo’s famous Akihabara neighbourhood is a hot spot for gamers in Japan and tourists. Today, one of its main video game arcades has shared the sad news that it will be closing down for good. The SEGA Arcade known as the SEGA Akihabara Building 2 will be closed for good on Sunday, 30th August 2020. SEGA Akihabara Building 2 was officially opened by SEGA in October of 2003 and has been a big attraction for tourists and locals. SEGA hasn’t issued a statement regarding why the arcade is closing, but it is thought the coronavirus pandemic has immensely impacted business.
Team sonic racing has failed me when it comes to playable characters. We need more.

Well that’s a shame. Wish arcades were still a thing in the U.S., with Corona it’s impossible to maintain these entertainment businesses though.
The pandemic didn’t impact their business, #StayAtHome policies did (yet no one told the ones in charge of the building’s rent).
:(
Glad I got to visit it once at least.
