Retro Studios looking for Lead Producer for Metroid Prime 4

Retro Studios has tweeted this evening that they are looking for a lead producer to help them create the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4. The company has been recruiting people from all development backgrounds to help create the latest instalment in the beloved Prime franchise which made its excellent debut on the GameCube in 2002.

      1. So… if you are looking for a Captain for a ship, you either have not start the journey, or worst, something very wrong happened in said journey…

They look like they are having serious problems figuring this one out.

(… deep breath…. starts to cry silently.)

        1. Yeah, I’m assuming that they are having a hard time to prepare for Samus’s next game. But, they still want to hire other people around there HQ to see to help out with the development of Metroid Prime 4. So, we won’t get any news from the game anytime soon. Some people assuming that its gonna be available on Nintendo next platform.

    1. It wasn’t poorly planned. It was planned in its entirely to be done by a totally separate team, but it didn’t work out.

    2. In all fairness, Metroid Prime 4 was announced to be restarting development likely around the time Retro agreed to do so. I think this sort of thing is pretty normal tbh. Hiring people, setting roles, getting a good idea of what the project is going to be like… A year of preparation makes sense.

99% of the time though, we don’t *see* these game developers talk about this phase of pre-development, considering they don’t show off games until they’re nearly ready. They’ve been hiring people of different backgrounds for the past few months, so this is just another person joining the team to help make sure the game releases as quality as can be.

  1. uuuhhgg. im tired of the teasers, im tired of the development up dates, im tired of all the little notices informing me about nothing.
unless its an announcement saying “in stores now” im over all of it.

  2. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

    Well…we’ll probably see MP4 in 2022… or 2023…

    Maybe I’m wrong.

  3. This better be the best F*-ing game of all time or else Nintendo has completely wasted almost decade of our time and did a disservice to their loyal fans.

This has BoTW written all over it. A swan song for the switch, but a guaranteed NEW DELUXE LET’S GO DEFINITIVE PORT U for the next console.

Get it together, Nintendo. Jeez…. It’s embarrassing. I’m trying to support you… but you sure make it tough. If MP4 ends up taking +7 years (and almost 15 years since MP3), and there’s even a hint of “casual gaming” inside, I’m out. I’m finally out. It’s been real. Peace!

Man, I miss those long gone Nintendo glory days…. What a damn shame.

  4. What’s Da Dizzneal?

At this rate, Prime 4 is gonna wind up like project HAMMER, scalebound, Megaman legends 3, and gun loco.

  5. I’m the only person here that 100% fine with this. I’d rather the game take YEARS and be good. If it doesn’t come out until the next console so be it.

  6. Y’all are really showing your ignorance when it comes to game development. Tanabe is already a producer for the game. A lot of games have multiple producers. This doesn’t mean they’ve been sitting around for a year doing nothing. Hiring can happen all throughout development, it doesn’t prevent them from working. But you guys are equally crazy for expecting any big news or reveals for this game, considering it hasn’t even been 2 full years since Retro was chosen to completely restart the development of the game. It’s not like they were just picking up where someone else left off. The whole first year was full of a lot of hiring, and probably a ton of planning and conceptual work. This game is several years away. Better get used to waiting. We’d be lucky to see it in 2022, but I’m personally buckling in and not expecting a release until Q4 2023 at the earliest.

    1. They’re taking a really long time to make this thing though, and asking for a “lead” producer is a bit worrying.

Still though, if metroid won’t come to us…ah well. Nintendo’s loss.

  7. Just because a game takes nearly a decade to come out doesn’t guarantee it will be great. I can name a few games that took a decade to come out & were underwhelming: Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, Duke Nukem Forever. And just because it’s Nintendo doesn’t guarantee greatness, either. Can name quite a few underwhelming Nintendo titles: Paper Mario Color Splash, Metroid Other M, Metroid Federation Force (this shit game doesn’t deserve the Prime tag), Pikmin 3. And just because they on a roll doesn’t guarantee anything, either. Even the successful Wii had a number of duds.

That said, this game could still be good. Just as long as Tanabe doesn’t pull the crap he did with FedForce.
