Pokemon GO support for Android 5, iOS 10, iOS 11, iPhone 5s & iPhone 6 devices will end in October

Niantic has announced that Pokemon GO will be getting an update in October. Unfortunately, the upcoming update will “end support for Android 5, iOS 10, and iOS 11, as well as iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 devices”. Niantic tweeted the news, so we’ve included their official tweet for you down below.

  1. Android 5 is from 2014. We are currently on Android 10, and Android 11 is supposed to fully release in September. Looking back at Google’s own Nexus phones from back then it was the last version update for the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 didn’t even have LTE, that was still back in the HSDPA days. The Nexus 5 had LTE and that went as far as Android 6. This is best case, since third party Android manufacturers were (and some still are) pretty bad about updating to newer Android versions. I’d say chances are pretty good that anyone playing Pokemon Go would have upgraded their phone long since then.

  2. I mean it makes sense considering Apple is going to stop support for these phones as well when they launch an update to slow the OS down and force people to upgrade to their latest OS and phones.

  3. I hate Avery on Pokémon shield so much that he makes Rose Tico enjoyable in comparison. I dislike the GameFreak employees who thought I would prefer Avery. I’m worried that crown tundra will not provide an attractive girl exclusively for shield. I wish Bea and Klara could join Melony in Wyndon this fall for both games. I liked Faba better as a psychic user because he did not replace waifus. #KlaraIsBetterThanAvery

    1. Melony is the only enjoyable trainer that is exclusive to shield. I want to travel to an alternate world where Melony is single with no kids.
