Tetsuya Nomura: ‘There are currently no specific plans for more Kingdom Hearts games on Switch’

Nintendo Enthusiast recently had the opportunity to chat with the legendary Tetsuya Nomura via a translator who confirmed to the publication that there are currently no plans to bring more Kingdom Hearts games over to the Nintendo Switch. This means that while we will be getting the upcoming Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, it’s doubtful that Switch owners will get the chance to play the mainline Kingdom Hearts games on the hybrid system. However, he did say that there’s a possibility that one of his other projects could eventually make its way over.

“Through a translator, Tetsuya Nomura confirmed there are currently no specific plans for moreย Kingdom Heartsย games on Switch. Square Enix did consider ports of existing games for Switch in the past but found that it was technologically difficult. However, Nomura added that he believes Nintendo Switch is a very appealing piece of hardware and he had always wanted to do something on this console. Additionally, while he cannot speak for games at Square Enix that he isnโ€™t associated with, Nomura did express that it is possible another game of his could come to Switch.”

I hate japanese companies being so dumb when it comes to “should we port our games to broader audiences?” If a ps2 could run kh1 2 and Re chain of memories the switch could easily do it.
It just baffles me how little they care about other platforms and then when a port excels in sales they’re surprised people bought it.
Then again SE did mobile port of a game and then ported it to consoles…

    1. What’s even more bizarre is when they ported KH3 to Xbox when the Xbox audience never had prior exposure to the series. The Nintendo audience has had half the games on their systems, and Nomura went even on record saying KH3 is possible to port to the Switch.

  2. I don’t understand how the HD trilogies couldn’t be ported when they ran perfectly fine on PS3. He has said KH3 was possible, but that would be downgraded so much it wouldn’t be worth it.

Square just give to us Chrono Trigger without bugs on Switch.
