Mr Sakurai announced during today’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate downloadable content presentation that Minecraft Steve and the gang will be joining the adored fighter. He said at the end of the presentation that there will be a special Steve and Alex presentation on Saturday, 3rd October at 7.30am PT / 3.30pm BST

He looks like fun! I like Minecraft myself. I would have preferred a different character, but I am not upset about his inclusion.
I’m not overly hyped about this announcement but that being said it’s the number one highest selling game of all time and it deserves a representative in Smash. It represents gaming. Sakurai is a genius to think of a move set for him. Just be thankful we don’t have another fucking Fire Emblem character.
Having set my predictions to either Crash Bandicoot (as the new Crash game comes out in mere days) or Travis Touchdown (due to the series’ creator acting sus during his last interview in which he was asked about his opinion on Travis in Smash), this was a total surprise to me. I knew people asked for Steve for years, but I didn’t think Sakurai would actually *do* it. It will be interesting to see just how deep their mechanics are.
