In a recent interview designed at video games studios who are potentially interested in bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch, Scott Hawkins, head of the developer relations team at Nintendo of America, shared the information that one of the executives at Warner Bros wasn’t sure whether bringing the ultra-violent Mortal Kombat 11 was a good idea. It turns out it was a fantastic idea to bring Mortal Kombat 11 to Switch as it was the best-selling game on the platform for a month in the United States.
One would think that anyone could look at the sales numbers and realize it’s not just families buying these things for Pokemon and Mario..
Don’t get me wrong. There are a lot of families adding to the userbase (sometimes with multiple consoles), but you have your core 10 million Nintendo diehards, and a large portion of the wider gaming community as well. I don’t know anyone who games seriously who doesn’t own a Switch alongside either a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
We are more than 200 million Nintendo legends. Resources hold back most from purchasing the Switch. If only we could find a way to help them. Gaming would as always with Nintendo be amazing. I like your point of view.
Nintendo products only have this stigma among third party developers because other third party developers aren’t willing to port their games. Can’t build an audience if you’re not willing to even give them a chance.
I’m so tired of people assuming Nintendo is only about being family friendly. Yes, Nintendo does have a range of franchises that are specifically designed to be appealing to everyone BUT that doesn’t automatically mean they are only focused on that. If you dig through all the games on Nintendo Switch, you would be surprised how dark some of them can get and yet despite this, Nintendo still approves them for their system.
There’s no doubt that the E rated games sell best on Nintedo platforms, but I agree with you wholeheartedly, going back to the original MK SNES vs Genesis ports. Nintendo censored everything about that game people wanted to see, and it didn’t do as well as it should; MK II and every version since didn’t have this issue and sold. Nintendo tried getting out of the kiddie games only image with almost every iteration of their consoles following SNES. Conker’s Bad Fur Day for N64, Resident Evil 4, Eternal Darkness for Game Cube, MadWorld, Manhunt 2 for Wii, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Zombie U, Bayonetta 1 & 2 Wii U, all should have sold better than they did, they deserved it, but the majority of the Nintendo fan base either didn’t know those games existed or weren’t interested. To some degree I understand why the developer was cautious, but had he looked at the sales of the MK series on Nintendo platforms he’d know that there’s no issue with releasing MK on Switch.
Time to release DC vs WB (or whatever it was called) and all of their fighting games that missed the Wii and Wii U, Arkham series of games, and all the other goodies they have on the NS. We’re over 61 million strong (and counting), so we’re definitely good for it, oh give us the dlc for free due to these games being old, and oh…no lazy ports!.
It just shows how out of touch these executives are, basing their knowledge on tropes.

F= MA.
I want so bad to take a dig at the fact they in Cali & that’s another reason they sound stupid. … Oops! Too late!
Have you been to Florida? They make Cali look 👀 intelligent. Wait that’s Florida everyone is more logical than they are.
F=MA.
Anyone debating that, should be introduced to Bayonetta.
Anything can fit for the Switch.
“There’s an audience for lots of different types of content on the platform, and this was a big success.”
Ok now release every game on the console.

Somebody show this man Senran Kagura.
