Nintendo’s Shuntaro Furukawa: third-party titles “enriches the Nintendo Switch gaming experience”

A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo held their six-month financial results briefing. As usual, the financial results briefing has a Q&A segment where investors ask Nintendo a variety of questions. A transcript of the Q&A segment is usually posted the day after, and an English-translated version a week or two later.

Well, the English-translated version of the recent financial results briefing’s Q&A segment has been posted. In it, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa is asked about the impact that third-party games will have on the Switch going forward. Furukawa said that “other software publishers plan to release a wide variety of titles for Nintendo Switch going forward. There are many genres of games that we cannot make on our own and their providing these kinds of titles enriches the Nintendo Switch gaming experience, so we are very grateful for that.

Furukawa continued, saying that “Regarding the speed of growth in unit sales, the fact is that sales of Nintendo Switch software are increasing both for Nintendo titles and titles by other software publishers, and we want Nintendo Switch to be a platform on which both can continue to sell well”.

  1. 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

I am not worried about Third Party support because the support it’s there since since 2018.

What I am worried about is what Nintendo is going to show.

Of course we have heard enough of this “Pro” edition of games but in terms of games what can we expect from Nintendo itself?

  2. Hoping a confirmation on Pokémon Sleep Game will happen so they can finally give a release date its been in works a good few months now I’m hoping any day now,& of course another new Nintendo Switch Pokémon game,ok so lasting promise release date for Nintendo Switch Pokémon Snap release date as can tell by this comment the hole time im a day one Pokémon Trainer at Heart i love Pokémon Forever,Pokémon anything everything any day any time.

  3. I’m afraid this artcle is sorta pointless. The president of a company is asked about working with partners. How stupid would he be to say anything else as long as he isn’t just announcing a completely 1st party only system.
There are times when leading persons say sorta unexpected things, like Iwata apologising, though I felt he was generally someone who would really talk more honestly. These things can be quite interesting. But the programmed answres to pretty obvious questions, pfff not so much.

  4. The flip from almost no 3rd party support during the Wii U era to overwhelming 3rd party support on the Switch is astonishing.
