Nordisk has acquired 40% of MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid: Samus Returns

MercurySteam, located in Madrid, Spain, was founded in 2002. They are a development studio, the ones behind the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow games and Metroid: Samus Returns. Today, they confirmed that they have “several new titles” planned, and they also confirmed that Nordisk has acquired 40% of the studio.

Nordisk Games is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. They have full ownership of Avalanche Studios, the developer of Just Cause and Mad Max, and they also partly own Raw Fury, who published Call of the Sea. In all, they have investments in 8 gaming companies that are located in Europe. Martin Walfisz, senior partner at Nordisk Games, mentioned in a prepared statement that “MercurySteam’s track record speaks for itself, and the games they now have in development are extremely promising and exciting”.

  1. Uugh, my heart! x(
The first time in ages that we get some news with a Metroid header that isn’t related to Metroid Prime 4… and then it still turns out to not have anything to do with Metroid at all.
I swea, the trolling we poor Metroid fans have to endure! :(

    1. Hopefully 2021 will bring us the first glimpse of prime 4 and this crappy virus will be eliminated.
Just gota see the first part of 2021 out the way and hopefully it’ll start to be an up hill climb for all, with great news for nintendo and metroid fans and all families can get to together next christmas and have a series bash.

  2. I honestly don’t recognize any of the titles apart from Metroid and Castlevania. And the castlevania game that they developed isn’t exactly held in high regard by fans of critics.
