HAL Laboratory, the team behind the beloved Kirby franchise, have participated in a feature with Japanese site 4Gamer. The feature sees the site talk to numerous Japanese video game developers who discuss and tease their plans for 2021. Here’s what the developers of the series had to say about their plans for next year,
Tadashi Kawai
“We at HAL Laboratory will continue to deliver games in 2021 filled with three key values: surprise, fun, and warmth. Thank you very much.”
Teruhiko Suzuki
“In 2021, I want to release another kind of weird game from HAL Egg! And please play Part-Time UFO! It’s a fun game that you’ll absolutely enjoy! Let me know what you think!”
Yumi Todo
“We’ll keep working hard on our goal in 2021. That is, for as many people as possible to enjoy Kirby [games]. We have plans not only for games but also for merchandise, books, and a variety of events like with the Kirby Cafe. We hope you’ll continue to support both Kirby and HAL Laboratory in 2021!”
id like to see HAL (and GameFreak) do some revivals of their non-Nintendo associated older games.
That would be a good idea.
All these devs talk about 2021 but never reveal concrete plans smh
Well they probably don’t have much they can publicly talk about. Nintendo likely wants to keep a tight lid on new releases until they feel it’s the right time so the folks at HAL really can’t say much other than they’re working on stuff.
I’d take another box boy game. Such a simplistic and addictive little puzzle game.
2021 will be a great year. I really love to see what surprises they have for the franchise and other games from Nintendo.
