Bloomberg is reporting that the more powerful upcoming Nintendo Switch model, which is speculated to arrive later this year, will feature an upgraded Nvidia chip resulting in better graphics and processing. The more powerful new model will feature DLSS (Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling) which uses artificial intelligence to deliver higher resolution visuals (up to 4K docked). The new Nintendo Switch model will also feature a better 7″ OLED display upgrade and the Nvidia chip will result in a better CPU and increased memory. However, sources have told Bloomberg that the DLSS support “will require new code to be added to games, so it’ll primarily be used to improve graphics on upcoming titles.” Analyst expect the new and improved Switch to cost between $349 and $399.
“$349.99 will increase the value proposition of the device, but I still think Nintendo can drive strong demand even at $399.99,” he said.
I don’t think Switch is the right device add OLED to, but I’m keen for a performance boost. Handheld games running at subnative resolution is unprecedented (at least on Nintendo hardware) and makes me question if Nintendo’s pride in quality left with Iwata.
Yea I wouldn’t want an oled as well, I mean I do, but I’d rather have that cost go towards better performance, battery,etc. I think they should save oled for like a real switch 2 and release two models at launch like Xbox,one at $400 and maybe one at $300 or $250
OLEDS are really cheap right now. Samsung made a shitload and they’re just sitting in warehouses
I mean oled uses less power than lcd, but with better colors and blacks/whites, and response time.
So u will get better battery life bc of it. But since they will upgrade the cpu and memory, tht extra battery from the new screen will go to the new power.
It really did leave with Iwata and will be completely gone when Miyamoto dies
it definitely should have OLED in 2021 already. my Zune HD had an OLED display. same with the vita. every phone has one. its definitely behind the times as far as dsiplay.
they are, this is still the same family of devices. this is like the “NEW” 3DS its an upgrade but part of the same family and will play the same games
I’m not going to hold my breath because we’ve been hearing about an upgraded Switch pretty much since launch. I do feel the time is right for them to release an upgrade, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if there is over-speculation going on and it really ends up being another minor upgrade like last time. I’m not giving much thought to the 4K side of the rumors until Nintendo says it themselves. My one hope is that if it does turn out to be true I’d love to see them throw some update love back to Breath of the Wild like they did when video clip capture was added. Unlikely, but it’d be a really great way to show off the improvements for a game a large number of people have.

At $400 it has to be an upgrade worth the increase. They have a lot of room for screen improvement with those bezels on the original, Idc about 4k but I do want stable performance in handheld mode. Whether it’s worth $100 increase we’ll have to see.
Yeah I agree, I’m not to bothered about 4K docked. I’d want an improved screen and some other features ( like a proper voice chat and Bluetooth so I can use my AirPods.

At this point bluetooth at least should be a normal staple for Nintendo consoles.

“…so it’ll primarily be used to improve graphics on upcoming titles.” Oh, I was hoping they would automatically upscale existing games (kinda like when the iPhone 4 came out with the Retina Display and iOS 4 automatically upscaled existing third party apps so devs just needed to add higher-res images). Guess they will re-launch the likes of Smash Ultimate 4K as “new games”. Nice business strategy, bad for my wallet.
And as someone mentioned, a proper Bluetooth experience for wireless headphones should be a no-brainer by now.
If devs are ready to add the DLSS code to older games, it will work for them too. all we would need is an update and BOOM 4k!
Games like smash, botw etc will get the boost in their sequels. Nintendo will use 4k to sell those games too.
349$ to 400$ might be a good price to fit Nintendo fans interests and its pro system glory. OLED is really cheap right now and people are still wanting the updated system to run good on a stable performances for Nintendo games. Including some third party games as well. So, I’m not getting my hopes up on this new pro, because I’m still not abandoning my original Nintendo Switch. We’ve been hearing about an upgraded Switch pro for a long while now.
I’ll buy the Switch Pro but if it is never going to be limited to how powerful it is because of the current Switch then it is a waste of money.
DLSS would be an absolute game changer for the Switch. Which is why I am not confident Nintendo will do it lol
If you make a Switch Pro at 400, what are you going to do for a Switch 2?
Same price probably, they can just make a price cut for the Switch Pro in that case or just discontinue all models except the standard Switch and Lite.
Same thing they did with the New 3DS XL when the Switch launched, they pretty much stopped selling it and started marketing only the 2DS line.
Don’t care for 4K as long as we get a a good boost in performance so PowerPoint presentation games like Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity can become playable.
All these “strong” rumors/speculations feels like it’s just building up for disappointment, i have a feeling the new model will not be as strong people are expecting it to be.
They should also announce a full fix for their drift issue.
