Nintendo Switch Online

3 more titles are coming to the SNES Switch Online collection on July 28th

Every couple of months, Nintendo updates their Nintendo Switch Online NES and SNES collections with a few additional games. Nintendo has announced earlier today that another update is on the way, but you may be surprised to hear that the NES Nintendo Switch Online collection is not even getting anything this time.

In fact, it is only the SNES Nintendo Switch Online collection that will be getting more games. On July 28th, fans can expect 3 more games to join the library’s lineup. All 3 of them, Claymates, Jelly Boy and Bombuzal, are obscure SNES titles. Meanwhile, Japan is getting “Shin Megami Tensei If…”. You can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

    1. Agreed! Even ignoring the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games, there’s still Super Mario RPG, both Earthbound games, Chrono Trigger (not likely though), Secret of Mana (also unlikely), Secret of Evermore, and more.

  1. Yeah, even as an American, I’d much rather be getting Shin Megami Tensei If… but it doesn’t have an official English translation yet. :(

  2. Is it me or is Nintendo playing favorites when it comes to Japan online service and everybody else? I mean it wouldn’t surprise me if they added say Tales Of Phantasia for Japan and some other obscure games for the rest of us.

  3. This is pretty ridiculous at this point. I mean sure the Japanese market makes up a fair share, but why can’t they throw us a bone and give us something like Earthbound or Mario RPG once in a while?

    1. Also, are we EVER going to get gameboy and N64 games on this thing? Seems rather stupid to plan the closure of the Wii U and 3DS eshops when we’re no where near close to having as good of a vc selection that they had.

      1. Bro at this point the biggest endorser of piracy is Nintendo themselves. I’m honestly confused how people can still have faith that they’ll give us the things we want in terms of NSO in general.

Anyway, I’m gonna go play Wario Land 4 on mGBA for the first time because I missed out on that game

        1. True that. Nintendo is very weird on how they handle their business side of things, and at times it’s pretty idiotic. I think I talked to this with Felix probably last year, but covid was the perfect time to vastly improve Nintendo’s online game selection since it’s relatively easy work they could do at home while on lockdown, but it’s still the worst it’s ever been with us not even getting a single game for each month. Maybe Nintendo thinks adding N64 and Gamecube will disallow them to make bundles like the Mario collection, but really that’s just going to hurt them in the long run when more people start looking up ways to pirate these games because Nintendo is basically hoarding them in the vault at this point.

          1. Its time like this like Nintendo is being so respective of their classic titles and they need to think of a way to improve their online game selections soon. Also, people will always find away to pirate the most Nintendo’s popular games no matter what device they are using.

  4. Ok I’ll take your word on claymates and try it out. As I clicked the link I jokingly said to myself “come on Cayfighters”, then got thrown off by Claymates, a game I didn’t know existed. I rented Clayfighters 1 and 2 more than once. I hope those games were actually fun and I don’t have rose tinted glasses from before I knew good games from bad ones. But yea let’s go with the RPGs, also no reason Mario Paint isn’t on Switch, we wouldn’t need the SNES mouse even.
