  1. Really? Chris Pratt? Charles Martinet has been THE voice of Mario- and Luigi, and Wario, and Waluigi, and Toadsworth- since Mario 64, it feels wrong for Mario to be voiced by anyone BUT him.

Why do they keep shoehorning Hollywood actors into these iconic roles? I thought it was initially jarring enough that Sonic wasn’t going to be voiced by Ryan Drummond or Roger Craig Smith in the Sonic movie.

    1. Because Illumination. Putting in as many big name celebrity actors as possible into their animated movies is kind of their thing.

(I am looking forward to hearing Jack Black as Bowser and Key as Toad though.)

  2. Yeah I hate to be that guy but it always feel weird when they do this with celebs I also have no idea how this will work, Chris is about as American as it gets I believe Mario and Luigi are going to lose their accents for this movie, so it might sound your watching one of those Mario parody videos on YouTube l.

    1. At least College Humor/Dorly Bits/Lowbrow know how to do an Italian accent.

God help me if he pulls a Ryan Reynolds (Detective Pikachu).

  3. PLEASE, for the love of God, let Pratt sound like Mario. Same story with Luigi and Bowser.

And let the characters actually resemble their CGI designs from recent games like Mario Party Superstars (Odyssey, Mario Golf Super Rush, etc.). Do not give us Illumination characters (generic humans) cosplaying as Mario characters.

I hope you guys know what I’m talking about.

I’ve been dreading this since I heard Illumination was involved, yet no one replied to quell my concerns.

  4. This cast is awful and Donkey Kong better have a tiny roll. But who am I kidding? Seth Rogan’s crap will be considered a “breakout performance” in the movie and a Donkey Kong movie will he announced before Mario is out of theatres- they’re probably already working on it. Gah, I hate just about the entire cast of this CGI nightmare and I don’t imagine my opinion being improved by the trailer- whenever that comes out.

  5. I really don’t know how I’m gonna respond to this, but now it feels like Mario and Luigi will not be themselves just like in the games. Mario and Luigi being voice by those actors might be somewhat not feeling the excitement for this movie. This nightmare might come to a reality much sooner.
