  1. Well at least they are delaying it for Spring 2023 release date just to improve the game’s elements and quality. I’m ok with this. SEGA/SonicTeam is also doing the same with Sonic Frontiers in late 2022 since they decided to delay it.

  2. Oop figures that too many great games coming out this year, and yes I do know Zelda is a big enough franchise to still make numbers, these games don’t really appeal to me I prefer the toon link games and the ones that have top down, wish they make something like that soon

  3. Good. I don’t have enough time to play everything coming out this year as is, so this’ll help a bit. (Also, Nintendo has been doing yearly Zelda releases since 2013, so maybe they’ll finally port WWHD and/or TPHD this year since there’s a gap now.)

      1. I’m sure it’s one of the reasons. Look at how everyone forgot about the new Horizon game because of Elden Ring.

Nintendo doesn’t want to release a Zelda game where everyone ends up saying “Elden Ring did it better.”

        1. I really, really doubt it.
Nintendo have proved time and time again that they couldn’t care less what their competition is doing, opting to go in their own direction instead.
A delay on this game was practically a given, considering it’s almost mid 2022 and we still didn’t even have the title for it yet. It was going to happen regardless of Elden Ring’s release.

And with all due respect, this just seems to be yet another example of how overhyped Elden Ring is.
Yes, it’s a good game, but it’s hardly a game changer or anything. Zelda will easily outsell it simply by brand recognition alone, so there’s literally no reason for Nintendo to worry about it enough to delay the game. They just wanna make sure the final product is up to their standards, same reason they

          1. I don’t care about sales numbers. And forget about Elden Ring for a moment… if BOTW2 released and didn’t address the criticisms that people had for BOTW… then gamers would not enjoy it as much.

NOW here comes Elden Ring which did address some of the criticisms of BOTW and it raises the bar even higher.

BOTW helped refresh the open-world genre (to a degree). Elden Ring advanced it further. Now BOTW2 has the opportunity to expand/innovate the genre even more. It might even include the multiplayer aspect they mentioned when the were challenging the Zelda formula during BOTW development and hey, they can look at FromSoft’s style and expand/innovate.

They already had the game engine from BOTW. They could have just generated more content and made a sequel and we would have had it already. I’m assuming they are NOT taking this attitude and trying to improve even more with BOTW2 compared to BOTW and it’s open-world contemporaries.

But I could be wrong. So could you. We’re not experts.

            1. With all due respect, there’s still nothing you’ve said here that gives any real reason why Nintendo would upend their release schedule to compensate for the release of a competitor. It just doesn’t make any sense, especially from a business standpoint.

You may not care about sales numbers, but Nintendo do. And that’ll be the first thing on their minds, so they’re not going to delay one of their most important games in years and upend their devlopment simply on a whim, to shoehorn in concepts from Elden Ring in an attempt to compete with it. Like I said before, that’s not how Nintendo rolls, it just doesn’t happen.

Yes, I’m sure the reason they’re delaying the game is to indeed optimize the experience and make it even more enjoyable for players, but not because of Elden Ring. It’s just something Nintendo does, because they genuinly care about their franchises (sometimes a little TOO much, judging from the actions of their legal team).

That’s my ultimate point here; this delay is not Elden Ring related. There is NO evidence to suggest that, and it would be a very nonsensical thing to do.

        2. Not gonna fully disagree with you, but I’m pretty sure people stopped caring about Horizon because Elden Ring was simply a better game. I mean to say that Elden Ring doesn’t just look better, it IS better.

At this time we don’t know really anything about the BotW 2. Maybe Nintendo saw Elden Ring and wanted to do more, but I highly doubt that they focusing at all on it when they’re this close to the end for their own game. I’m not really sure what they could even do based off of Elden Ring’s reception

  4. If you put a nice joint of beef in the oven and whack the temperature up high and cook it through real quick, it turns out all chewy and horrible, but if you place it in the oven on a nice low temperature and cook it nice and slow it turns out magnificent!

  5. I’m just waiting for Grunty to show up and be like “if they started making this immediately after the first game we’d have had it three years ago, devs these days are so lazy.”

Am I disappointed that there’s been a delay? Yes. Am I willing to wait as long as it takes? Also yes. I’ve been waiting almost 20 years for a new F-Zero; I can wait one more year for this particular Zelda. If it’s taking 5-6 years to make this even with a template of the previous version of Hyrule already in use, I can only imagine how big this game is ultimately going to be.

  6. While Nintendo is announcing game delays etc., I wish they’d explain where the heck Pikmin 4 is? Seriously, why hasn’t anyone else asked them this question in recent interviews? The fans deserve to know whether it’s still in production, or if it got cancelled.

    1. Amen!!! I wish he never even brought up Pikmin 4 in the first place. What’s the point nearly 7 years ago and nothing. I’m startung ti think “Hey Pikmin “was the game he was talking about . Or he was just blowing sand paper up Pikmin fans a**.

  7. Im just happy Disgaea 6 is releasing in the west for PS4, PS5 and PC. That’s right, this year has enough titles. Besides, no one can play everything at once so what’s the rush. Chrono Cross Radical Dreamers Edition, Lego Star Wars Etc etc my backlogs already a mile long why would i add another game on that list knowing im not gonna play it even if it releases.
I highly doubt Elden Ring is the new measuring stick of the game industry, in which all games must measure up. I highly doubt that’s the reason, alot of games get delayed nowadays more so because of the pandemic like FF7 remaster, The Last of Us 2 and Sword Art Lycoris.

Elden Ring isn’t the measuring stick of the game industry that all games must measure up and neither is FF7 *Cough Cough
