Nintendo president Shuntaru Furukawa was asked a number of questions during the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. One of the questions put to him was what Nintendo plans to do about potential data leaks in the future. As we know a large data leak happened with Chinese distributor iQue which was dubbed the Nintendo Gigaleak. The leak saw sensitive internal data exposed about company decisions made in the Wii and DS era and came to light in 2020. Mr. Furukawa says that they have been taking a number of initiatives to prevent something like that happening again and that they have also set up their own Information Security Committee.

We are taking a variety of initiatives to address information security threats and vulnerabilities. For the services we provide, initiatives include cooperating with outside specialists and conducting diagnostics to check for security issues. In addition, as part of our internal system for information security, we introduced the information security management system in 2017 and have set up our Information Security Committee. Policies for information management have been established, and we have adopted both physical and technical countermeasures. In addition, we work to raise awareness of information security among our employees through training and other means.

    1. that’s not a rumor, that is a flat out lie to get attention and bragging rights IF they are right.

      1. A very convenient one at that too. It can be a full on successor rather than a hardware revision, and people will still think the rumors about a “Pro” console were true because it’s technically a stronger Switch. People who put their faith in these hardware rumors despite them being around before the Switch Lite really aggravates me.

  1. Chinese riddler needs to quit slacking off. I want legit pokemon leaks, not stupid lies from 4chan, twitter and deviantart. I also hate kdramastars and sidhtech. They fabricated the pokebank release date back in gen 6.

  2. Not that I want Nintendo to do this, but leakers would back off if every leaked game got delayed by a couple of months.
