Last week, Nintendo announced in a new Nintendo Direct that Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games are now available on Nintendo Switch Online. With more games planned to be added to the library in the future, the question has not been a matter of if more games are coming, but when.
Well, we have an answer. Axios reporter Stephen Totilo has mentioned on Twitter that he asked Nintendo if there will be more games added each month. Nintendo replied by saying that “There is no set schedule for new releases, but each collection will continue to grow”. Totilo’s tweet can be seen down below.
I’m hoping for Pokémon gen 3 to be added in its collection. I have not got the GBA service yet, but I’m gonna wait until they add Pokémon gen 3 on its list first.

It took them +5 years to add Pokemon to the virtual console on the 3DS, even more for second gen. They basically saved it for last. Dragging is their middle name.
I guess that means we have to wait until 2033 until GameCube games come to virtual consoles something we been asking for since the Wii U was still current. And by then that next generation console will be 7 or 8 years old then. At least Sony listens to their consumers immediately. Nintendo wants to wait 15 years to finally. Only thing they do immediately is make Mario and Zelda games. They got more IPs then we have fingers and toes and all they want immediately is the plumber and the swords man.

I’m trying to see if I can make some sense out of this: So next month Wii U and 3DS Eshopes close. Why not just put all those games from 3DS eshope to the Gameboy expansion pak? And why after 7 years add a Gameboy expansion pak to the Switch now when the 3DS been discontinued for at least 3 years now? Why didn’t they do that then? And lastly what’s going to happen to the N64/Gameboy expansion Pak when the next hardware arrives? Why add all this this late in the Switch life cycle? If the Switch is getting all this this late, who’s to say the next hardware won’t get all this when that console is 6 or 7 years old also?
Why is a lot of people keep bringing up a next generation console when this old console is just now getting N64 and Gameboy games? Just now. Shouldn’t they have thought about this when the console was like 2 years old? Why waste resources to do all this at 7 years old if another generation console is right around the corner? Why not just have that ready at the start of the next console?
And why not combine 3DS, DS, Wii U, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance,GameCube, Wii, and just make one giant Expansion Pak for the start of the next console? Why is Nintendo so stupid and slow to not have thought of this why the next console is currently in R&D? Took to the 7th year to fullfill what consumers wanted in 2017. I don’t know why Nintendo always wait decades to fillfill what consumers asked 7 to 15 years ago. They take forever to immediately work on Non-Mario/Zelda titles. They don’t immediately fullfill games on a new console? They take 12 to 15 years to listen. Hell I had to wait 10 years for Pikmin 4.
The answer is simple. If they release their legacy games veeeeeery sloooowly they will keep people subscribed to their subscription service, and if they added them at an actual good pace people would play all the games they want and unsubscribe. I’m excited about the GameBoy and GBA collections, but it’s going to take literally years for us to have a selection that is actually good. It’s been 4 years since the SNES app launched and I can still think of glaring first party omissions.

I want gameboy color only games since I never had one. Metal Gear Solid for GBC is something I hope they can work out.
