A fiery new version of DOOM for SNES has been announced by Limited Run Games as part of QuakeCon 2024.

The standard edition is set to include a retro box, instruction booklet, gun-metal colored cartirdge, and a 12″ x 16″ poster, while the collector’s edition- limited to a demonic 666 copies- plans to pack in the instruction book and poster from the standard edition, on top of a premium embossed foil box, gun-metal colored cart with blood paint and metal plate labels, and a certificate of authenthicity.
Set to raise hell in 2025, this retro re-release will work on original SNES hardware- but with a modern touch.
Some of the new features touted by Limited Run Games include:
- All 4 DOOM episodes, including Thy Flesh Consumed
- Added circle-strafe
- Performance improvements
- Monster respawning on Nightmare difficulty
- Level codes
- Rumble support via an all-new controller
Information on this mysterious “new controller” is scarce, along with any confirmation on whether it will come packed in with the standard edition, collector’s edition, or both.
Limited Run Games has asked interested customers to stay tuned for more announcements.
In the meantime, DOOM fans can look to the recently announced DOOM + DOOM II duo pack and DOOM Anthology for more demon-slaying, blood-pumping excitement.

I wonder if someone will ever develop Doom II: Hell on Earth, TNT: Evilution, and The Plutonia Experiment for the Super Nintendo. I would love to see those three even run on the Super Nintendo.
Given it’s Limited Run Games’ BS, I’ll wait until someone uploads it to see how they modified the port.
Just wait for repro carts. The DOOM community is lightyears ahead of LRG, and also infinitely cheaper.
Screw LRG.
DOOM
is overrated tripe.
As a collector I already have the trilogy on switch and doom 2 was not on snes so not interested in this cartridge. Any newer games made for these systems are not what a collector looks for at all.
If this snes second version is still censored like the otiginal snes port, then there is zero reason to buy this. I didn’t see any mention of uncensoring the game, so yeah, extremely hard pass.
