The well-received third person action title Stellar Blade is seemingly coming to more platforms besides the PlayStation 5 and the recently announced PC version. South Korean developer Shift Up recently informed investors of its plans to bring the fast-paced Stellar Blade to more formats, which most likely includes Xbox Series X|S and the soon-to-be-released, Nintendo Switch 2.
Stellar Blade developer looking to bring game to more platforms

I’m not one for console wars but Sony dudes aren’t gonna like that. I saw how toxic they got when ppl asked if it was coming to Xbox and PC before the later got announced
Waited for the PC version, the wait was worth and just preordered it. I know they tell you not to preorder digital games but I feel like this one was worth doing it. If it comes to Switch 2 I’m double dipping.
All I know about this game is that some people online were mad that it starred a pretty lady, and then others were mad that people were mad. I have no idea if the game is fun or not.
Tbh barely anyone playing actually shown cool gameplay….they were mainly gooning at eve and her physics. Showing stuff like that more than cool moments from the game And all those praising it before release soon started crying about a inch of pixels being censored. All being led by grumz….
It is actually fun, if you’re into something like sekiro then you’ll like it
I’m gonna guess that if there are other platforms beyond Steam and Epic Games Store on PC, it will be Switch 2. At the end of the day, PlayStation Studios is still the publisher of Stellar Blade. And the only title that Sony has published on Xbox is MLB The Show, and that literally might be because they have to (like the MLB only agreed to the license arrangement if Sony published the game on all available consoles). On the other hand, Sony rather surprisingly brought LEGO Horizon Adventures to the Switch last year alongside the PC/PS5 release. Yes, that could ALSO be a LEGO licensing arrangement, but it seems less likely since it was a LEGO game based on a Sony-owned first-party franchise Horizon. I’m thinking that was Sony testing the waters as a Switch publisher.
For all those wondering: Stellar Blade is an INCREDIBLE game. Insanely good combat, great story, amazing visuals and one of the best soundtracks of the last decade.
tl;dr
Sony has been saying for years that the future of gaming is multiplatform and that its not sustainable for any company to not do it. Before people start screaming that Nintendo doesnt need this there are loads of games that sell more than Nintendo Games so this isnt entirely true. Also keep in mind that PS1-4 sold more software than every Nintendo console combined (including handhelds) so I believe them. Not to mentiont the fact that other big players in the industry have said the same.
Fact is development costs are getting higher and higher , even Nintendo said this is true and they require more and more people to make a game.
Personally I think we will go to a streaming model like Netflix , Disney ect. so than it wont matter anymore you just pay for 1 month play what you wanna play and move on to the next subcription. Also graphics ect. will no longer be held back by hardware so you will always have the newest tech games.
Its taken Nintendo an extremely long time to get the standard of online gaming that MS / Sony reached years ago.
Nintendflix probably wont happen and I also can never see them going cross platform (exc mobile)
FACTS:
There aren’t any Sony published games in the top 50 all time.
Nintendo has sold 863.15 million units hardware all time and Sony has sold 639.79 million units.
OPINION:
Nintendo right now has no real competition unfortunately.
If the Switch 2 ultimately becomes a sales dissapointment (<100 million) than I believe you may be right about the subscription model in the future.
@ Perro I’m actually talking about total software sales I buy a console to play games , who made them is completely irrelevant to me. So the more major highly rated titles the better.
The Nes and the Snes had 50+ highly rated titles each gen after that the Ps1-4 has delivered this every gen and Nintendo went more to 5-15 cause all that was left is first party. I’m talking games like Metroid , Zelda , Elden Ring , GTA , Final Fantasy 7 (Ps1) I’m just naming a few but I hope you get my point. Top titles that score a 9-10 even on the most critical websites and are well known world wide and a big part of gaming history.
As for the hardware sales thats basicly Ps1-4 vs 7 home consoles and loads of handhelds over a far longer stretch of time since Nintendo was already around in the 80s actually over a decade.
For the sake of discussion you could argue that Xbox is in the same market as Sony atleast this is what people always claim so if you add there hardware and software on top it that market is actually way ahead. To give even further you could possibly add PC software sales to that aswell and its not even close.
Anyway my point is we all buy a console to play games and I assume we all want the biggest library possible with the highest quality games and in that department it hasnt been close since the Snes and the Facts as you call it show this.
If you want to debate Sony first party vs Nintendo first party than obviously Nintendo is the clear winner but I dont care who made it. For me God of War , Elden Ring , GTA , Final Fantasy are all on the same console wich is why I buy it , you know to play actual games.
As for the streaming its not about competition its the future of gaming. Same reason why we don’t use fax anymore , almost no real money , don’t wright letters anymore and so on. Eventually why would we bother buying home consoles If we can just stream it too or tv’s and only need a controller. The newest games will have the newest tech no need to update your hardware anymore. The only reason why its not already there is cause a large part of the world doesnt have the infrastructure yet to get good internet speed and there are still some latency issues.
……..Wut???
The only time a Sony console had multiple games sell 20 million was the PS4…That’s it! Nintendo has more 20 million sellers on the Switch than all PlayStation consoles combined(including their handhelds)!
Your argument keeps assigning the issues of Nintendo’s competitors to Nintendo. Nintendo doesn’t have a problem selling software nor do they have issues with game budgets.
Sure, many game makers will indeed go to a streaming service, but only because they can’t hack it selling their products. Microsoft isn’t putting all their eggs in the basket of Gamepass because “it’s the future of gaming”. They doing it because they have repeatedly failed to sell their software and their hardware and were forced to go a different route. Nintendo don’t have them problems.
That guy is clearly biased for Sony and since there’s nothing Sony can do regarding Nintendo 1st party exclusivity he resorted to the streaming Boogeyman. The fact is Sony is increasingly becoming multi-platform studio just like Xbox. But not Nintendo.
“Sony has been saying for years that the future of gaming is multiplatform and that its not sustainable for any company to not do it.”
Sony is saying that due to a plethora of bad decisions they’re taking for the last 10 years or so. They’re closing down studios, funneling money into the wrong projects, not making the games people actually want to play, badly managing their online services and so on. Putting their games on PC is nothing but a brief respite that still doesn’t solve the issue. No one wants Intergalactic. No one wanted Concord. TLOU2 didn’t need a remaster. Sony continues to ignore the fanbase claim for a Bloodborne remaster. No one wanted Ghost of Yotei (baffling that not even the folks developing it knew until very later that it wasn’t going to feature Jin Sakai at all). Of course their money is ending so, for them, it does make sense going multiplat.
Which is clearly not Nintendo case because, even as games become more and more expensive to do so, people still buy them in droves. Plus their hardware sales are still going strong. Maybe you aren’t aware of that but, by putting your games in other platforms, your own hardware sells less. This is precisely the reason why the Xbox is a failure.
WRONG!
There are not “loads of games” selling more than Nintendo games. Only a handful of exceptions where they are sold at reduced prices ie Terraria selling 58 million as a $10 game on PC. They DO NOT need to go multi-platform. It’s possible they might decide to(which is HIGHLY unlikely), but they do not NEED to.
There are no $100 million Nintendo games. Nintendo doesn’t chase ultra realism in games so their development costs are low to the ground. Nintendo don’t have them problems. GTA and Minecraft don’t have a game that sold 60 million or 80 million on one platform. Nintendo did it with MK8D and Wii Sports.
Analyst too simplistic… the development cost is such that 100 million is quickly reached even by Nintendo (like for example Zelda..) Without going into details, there are many factors that drive the price up. But one remark, you just have to see what independent publishers are asking for on Kickstarter for games that are far from equaling a Cyberpunk or GTA for example., but Nintendo has mastered the art of saving as much as possible. One example is that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom uses the same engine as Breath of the Wild, resulting in a decrease in development costs…
But the real problem for publishers is that the price of games does not keep pace with the increase in development costs, so they are forced to compensate (DLC, season passes, remakes…) to replenish their coffers. This is compounded by other phenomena that also weigh them down: piracy, emulation, and the used game market. And finally, another phenomenon that no one seems to notice is that at one time, selling a game at a million copies was considered a success… that is no longer the case at all now….
Weren’t they adding Nier content to the game? Maybe they can add some Nintendo content for Switch 2… like Princess Peach or Waluigi.
They did, all DLC content is going to be on the PC version including the Nikke collab. Hypothetically if it came to Switch 2 all content will be included including any they add in the future.
They never said that
