Despite his fame Masahiro Sakurai says he wishes to live an “unassuming life”

Smash Bros and Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai has participated in a new interview and despite his fame he says that “I think I’ve always wanted to live an unassuming life.” He went on to say that “I try my best to communicate my work to others, but I refrain from trying to promote myself.” He also touched on the fact that a manga has been created about his life saying “Even with [being contacted about creating the manga], I’m sure my response was something like ‘really?’ When it comes down to video games he says that “I think it’s best if people just play games. Instead of looking at who made them.” He also talked about the launch of Kirby Air Riders, which he says he’s nervous about, saying “becoming a laughing stock on the internet would be problematic. That’s why I frequently turn down requests for interviews.”

  1. Being a spokesman is tough, but it does bring reassurance to a community. You get the bad and good, no in between. Non-transparency can cause unnecessary discourse, but someone has to do it. “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” kind of situation.

    1. (suggestion: this Biblical verse: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” – Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version)

  2. Remember when Smash 4 development was so grueling he said he wished to be done with the smash series? It’s very obvious he loves game development but hates the corporate grind aspect
