ININ games has now confirmed that Nintendo is offering publishers the option of smaller cartridge sizes for the Nintendo Switch 2 console. This was previously reported on as a rumour, but it is now confirmation that Nintendo has smaller carts that the 64GB ones which the console launched with. Because Nintendo is offering smaller cartridge sizes, ININ Games says that it will now include R-Type Dimensions III for Nintendo Switch 2 on a full physical cartridge.
“We’re happy to share a positive update regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of R-Type Dimensions III. There is no better timing: Two days ago Nintendo announced two new smaller cartridge sizes for Nintendo Switch 2. This allows us to recalculate production in a way that wasn’t possible before. As a result, we’ve made the following decision: The entire European and US production of R-Type Dimensions III for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on a full physical cartridge. A little downside to this positive news: The price for the retail and the special edition of the NSW2 version will increase by €10 due to the still higher productions costs. However, as a small thank-you to our early supporters, All early pre-order customers of the special edition will receive the game on cartridge at the original price they ordered. We’d like to sincerely thank the community for the passionate discussion, the feedback, and the patience over the past days. Your enthusiasm for physical games and for R-Type in particular made this solution possible, and we’re very happy to be able to deliver a true cartridge release.”

Good that it isn’t a rumor anymore. This will provide appreciative opportunities.
Awesome!! I wonder what sizes tmthey are. Maybe something like 40GB & 20GB? Most games to hove around there
This really is great news and I hope that publishers are this as an opportunity to improve the abysmal third party sales on Switch 2.
Hell yeah, glad Nintendo Nintendo did the right thing, long live Physical media.
Thats right Tentri.
To Robyn W. Shove this up your digital arse.
They are reduce/shrink the size, is this like the size of MicroSDCard inside an SDCard adaptor, inside an SDCard slot?
I hope that means that some previously released games as key cards will be changed to regular cards. Maybe I’ll not buy Octopath Traveler 0 immediately hoping that they’ll change the card.
The tweet is no longer there xD
