Digital Foundry staff members have been picking their games of 2025 and one of the involved is Oliver MacKenzie who has clearly enjoyed Nintendo’s output this year. MacKenzie chose four first party Nintendo games and one third party exclusive, Fast Fusion, from the technical wizard at Shin’en. You can check out the video down below to hear his thoughts.

  1. Mario Kart World
  2. Donkey Kong Bananza
  3. Fast Fusion
  4. Kirby Air Riders

  1. They put a lot more effort into the new Sonic racing game, even people at the Game Awards cheered more for it.

That said, racers are simply mostly boring copies of each other these days. When is Nintendo going to add a proper single player mission mode like DKR had? 8 years for a game with a half assed mostly empty free roam.. lol

Then again they did the same shit with their golf and tennis games, Nintendo usually light on the content but charge stupid pricing for their games.

    1. Truth brought.

I’ve been playing Sonic Racing Transformed on PC. Great single player and great adaption of DKR car/boat/plane mechanic.

Hoping MKW has some massive update.

    2. The thing is Mario kart World has a trick system that made the jump feel like going from the original Smash Bros to Melee. Also there is a meticulously carefully crafted interwoven world. Almost every section of the map is a component of a different race track. There are over a 130 combinations. It mixes lap and drag racing. It is something to do while waiting in the online lobby. Most challenges are glorified tutorials, while others are are very creative challenges. Boo Theater has my favorite challenges. I just want Nintendo to build on the game like they Did with MK8, that game had DLC, then is had new DX content for the Switch, and then multiple waves of DLC for the Switch.

  2. I also enjoyed Sonic Crossworlds it’s a pretty fun game but I still find it hard to believe people thought it would beat Mario Kart World. Now find my pages.

  3. Oh yeah, this list is solid. All these games are graphical leaps for Nintendo. Mario Kart World looks great and is super-fun as well, Nintendo did a great job with it. Kirby and Metroid also look excellent, especially Metroid when using HDR.

What an awesome first year for Nintendo Switch 2!
