Nintendo clearly has the Japanese gaming market wrapped up and chart data provided today shows that nine of the top ten best-selling physical video games were on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The only PlayStation 5 game was Capcom’s Monster Hunter Worlds, which was the fourth best-selling game of 2025. VGC points out that this is the 21st consecutive year that Nintendo games dominated the best-selling physical games chart. With Nintendo Switch 2 sales booming in the Land of the Rising Sun it seems likely that 2026 will be another huge year for the Kyoto-based company.
