The Final Fantasy VII Remake games have been timed exclusives to PlayStation, but NateTheHate seems to believe that is over and that the third game will launch on all platforms at the same time. Square Enix previously said that they were no longer doing exclusives as Rebirth failed to meet sales expectations when it launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 in February 2024. Square Enix has yet to reveal if there is a timed contract between them and Sony for the third Final Fantasy VII Remake game.
“I think it’s going to be in close proximity to Summer Game Fest, and I’ll tell you why I have this belief. I think by releasing the game in June around Summer Game Fest, it will allow Square Enix, at Summer Game Fest, to finally announce and give first details surrounding Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3,” says NateTheHate.
“This way, Rebirth is out on all platforms, [and] now we can talk about Part 3, and then at that time, very likely confirm that Part 3 is going to be day-and-date on all systems. There’s going to be no timed exclusive to PlayStation. It’s going to release day-and-date on everything, even on PC.”
“I think they’re going to target everything, because they need all [of] these platforms to get a game to find success at this stage, and there’s no reason to stagger the releases anymore.”
Nate has been right so is the Sony deal done? Thing is they funded the remake trilogy so what changed? Also where is Kingdom Hearts 4? We were even told the 3rd FF7 game would be exclusive originally I remember right when they had a show for Rebirth

The comoany can’t make games outside FF7 that is their Hail Mary to keep the lights on. KH4 was probably vaporware and shareholders should sue. If part 3 flops they better do so.

Dragon Quest remakes, Builders 1 and 2, 11, and Dark Prince were all on Switch Heroes too I believe. Secret Of Mana, Trials Of Mana, and Legend Of Mana all on Switch.

They cannibalize sales now most who double dipped won’t now they bought it on PS4 now PS5 then would buy it again when it came to PC. Some even triple dipped buying on Epic Game store then Steam for Remake. So it’s going to be spread thin and rebirth sold less than remake. Not sure what numbers will be for Switch 2 ports but that is what they hope boosts sales a new audience buying in, if that is not the case and it’s the same audience buying it again they are screwed.

Also no releasing a game like this multiplatform is risky and can cannibalize the sales many who bought it on PS5 did so because it was not on their platform especially PC then would buy it again on PC. Now that it will launch or could launch on PC day 1 many of them will not buy the game twice. Square is hoping multiple platforms means more sales that’s not the case. I also have to wonder how many buying the ports on Switch are new customers or the same ones because many will not buy the game 4 times at launch just 1 version.

How? Nintendo Switch 2 is still a young console and they just said games in the west are not selling that well for it. No one plays on Xbox. I guess with PC they could make it but then again that weakens incentive for some who bought on multiple platforms they will just buy on 1 platform most these FF7 remake fanboys will buy on PC not console. This might flop hard. Releasing on all platforms sets higher expectations and the remakes exclusivity got people to double or triple dip but not now most will buy on PS5 or PC and less on PS5 now because they can buy it on PC day 1.

Not really if they do so it will hurt them cannibalizing sales. Many may not double dip anymore with Remake some triple dipped because EGS exclusivity. So if it launches on PC the same people who bought the PS5 version then again on PC will on buy on PC and that’s a lot of people. Square may have extremely high expectations if they do launch on all platforms and this will not meet those expectations they expect around the same number across all platforms. I also have to wonder if the Switch 2 versions are being bought buy mostly new players or old players buying it again, because once again at launch I do not think they are double or triple dipping buying it on 1 console. Add on Rebirth flopped so many did not play that game. It’s going to be interesting but doesn’t seem like it will sell what it needs to for Square to consider it a success. Also no one really is on Xbox so don’t count it. Also just realized GTA 6 is on the way so that will hurt this game too if it comes out early 2027 or if GTA 6 gets delayed to 2027.
