Reputable Japanese news organisation The Nikkei is reporting this afternoon that Nintendo is currently creating a Nintendo Switch 2 revision that includes a replaceable battery. This model will follow EU legislation and will reduce environmental impact and will fall under customers right to repair. The Nintendo Switch 2 model aimed for the European market will presumably launch in other markets too and will make repairs that much more simpler for consumers.
“Nintendo will implement the ‘right to repair’ for its ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ console in order to reduce its environmental impact. Firstly, in line with European Union (EU) legislation, the company will modify the design to allow consumers to easily replace the console’s battery. In the future, should consumer awareness of the right to repair increase in Japan and the United States, the company may take similar measures.”
Thanks to Greatsong1 for sending in the news tip!

Make that a law everywhere, companies are purposely making it where you cant access battery packs or the insides of devices, to push consumers to give said companies more money for replacements or upgrades.
Oooh, I like this
Yep I knew it. I’m gonna enjoy this.
I want this!
I’ve made quite a bit of $ from replacing batteries in phones and other items.
Really should be the law everywhere.
