US: Nintendo Switch 2 remains 2nd fastest selling hardware in tracked history

Mat Piscatella, from US video game sales tracker Circana, has stated once again that the Nintendo Switch 2 remains the second fastest selling video game hardware in the United States. We know sales weren’t hitting internal expectations in the all-important run up to the Christmas shopping season, but sales have clearly been strong regardless. The fastest-selling hardware in tracked US history remains the Game Boy Advance.

US Nintendo Switch 2 hardware installed base compared to other consoles after 9 months in market (Feb 2026 for Switch 2):

  • PS5 +29%
  • PS4 +30%
  • Wii +34%
  • Switch +45%
  • PS2 +56%
  • XBO +61%
  • XBS +73%
  • 3DS +96%
  • 360 +120%
  • NGC +139%
  • WiiU +302%

  1. Wait, the gba was the fastest selling hardware? I thought it would be the ps4 or wii, but I am happy to see the switch 2 at second. I am hoping the third party will see that the switch 2 is selling well and port more games on it.

    1. If I had to guess, it’s because of Pokemon. There wasn’t a strong launch lineup for the GBA iirc but that was when Pokemon was in full force and gamers would have loved the opportunity to upgrade their Game Boys to GBA… especially in anticipation of the eventual Pokemon games on GBA.

      1. I wouldn’t even give them attention if you’re talking about the “Sonic floped” comments, obvious trolls.

  2. Very interesting to see! I’m surprised it’s not the PS2 or even Switch 1. I have high hopes for future releases, so maybe we’ll see this climb to #1!

  3. Selling fast and selling more are two different things. The best selling console is still the PS2 even if the GBA sold “faster”
