GameStop has announced that it’s no longer taking in Gamecube consoles, games, or accessory trade-ins. So if you’re looking to trade-in your Gamecube for a ridiculously cheap price at GameStop, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. We all know you would be better off putting your games and console’s on eBay though.

might as well keep your games than have a few bucks in store credit
wait 20 years then sell it so you can get alot of money
Of course, why would I do that? GC has some good games, so there’s no reason for me to trade-in with my SMS, Wind Waker, etc…. And not only that, the trade-in cost of the GC games won’t give you much.
The GC will officially be a collectible on April 2nd, according to GameStop’s website. I sort of regret trading in my GC last year, but I hardly played it, despite having played over 15+ games on it.
if you have a thrift store near you they have almost brand new game cubes for $15 with 2 controllers and all the wires
I have more than 150 game for my Game Cube and over 90 for may Wii :D
I feel the same, I’ll never sell my GameCube games!
After all, I do have most of the good ones.
Agreed! I own over 40 GC games and don’t plan on selling them.
errro first
And another noob failing to get first.
And yet another fuck failing to get first.
And yet another noob failing to get first.
And yet another dumb fuck failing to get first.
And yet another fool who cant get laid. OOOH! and what?
kids these days…
Why would anyone trade in their games/consoles to GameStop anyway? What happens is they sell them as “used” so developers do not get a dime. Also my colleague once bought a DS there and he got a box full of used gift cards.
Fuck GameStop
“What happens is they sell them as “used” so developers do not get a dime.”
Uh, where do you think used games come from? In order for a game to be used, the game has to be purchased new at some point. The developers made their money on whatever copies were already bought when they were new. Not only that, but we’re talking about GameCube games here – games that haven’t been sold new since the Wii came out close to 6 years ago now.
“Also my colleague once bought a DS there and he got a box full of used gift cards.”
How does one not actually pay attention to what they’re getting when shopping?
I don’t even know why you would anyway. Have you tried looking for old Gamecube games online? Those things are expensive! Hang on to them, they’ll probably be worth a lot more later. They’re already worth more than what GameStop will pay you.
Maybe it’s because the WiiU will have downloadable GameCube games.
I’m very exited about that.
Me too! There are five GC games I REALLY want but I can’t find them anywhere!
-TLoZ: Wind Waker
-Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
-Pikmin 2 (Pikmin one too, but there’s a Wii version, so I’ll buy this one)
-Sonic Heroes
-Sonic Adventure DX: DIrector’s Cut
I agree, you’re probably better off selling your consoles on eBay, or maybe even holding onto them for a while!
They won’t take GameCube stuff anymore but still sells them for pathetic prices.
GameCube launch games are still 20-30 dollars.
It’s not just Gamecube, even the Game Boy Advance games are sold for high prices at Gamestop. Pokemon Black & White for the DS is about $35, when Pokemon Emerald for the GBA is about $40.
wat.
The only thing I would sell is the console. I’ll play the GC games on my wii thank you very much
-> Guess who’s going dumpster diving when they stop taking them in? <-
Not like I was ever gonna give away my precious Gamecube anyways!
Ast this point, who in their right mind would sell their gamecube anyway.
Anybody with a Wii.
Mines been gone for like 4 years now.
It’s more just my opinion, but I thought the Gamecube versions of the major series were terrible, except for the Mario baseball, tennis, and Metroid prime. Sunshine was horrible, Windwaker is the worst Zelda game in existence, Melee was decent (but I liked the original and Brawl better). Mariokart Double Dash was even pretty poor too. Some of the Mario party games were decent (#2 is still the best – (haven’t played 9 yet)).
Sunshine was awful?
Double Dash was bad?
Windwaker sucked?
What are you thinking?
That other entries in those respective series were much better?
Sunshine had those annoying blue coins to find. The 100 coins stars were too restrictive along with getting the “shines” out of order.
Double Dash got too cheap with the small characters, and the specials got out of hand when mixed appropriately.
Windwaker was very dull, boring, easy. The ocean travel took forever, I don’t think I died at all. Yes I did 100% this game too.
Wow……I understand it’s your opinion, but……dude….don’t put this on the internet….you’ll get nothing but hate from people who don’t share you’re opinion. (And that would be the majority of people who own a gamecube….)
And I’m going to be completely honest with you….. I think your opinion is just plain nuts.
You are certainly entitled to that. I’m a Nintendo fan, I’ve only owned Nintendo consoles, and out of the 5 (doesn’t include virtual boy) of them, GameCube is at the very bottom. By far my least favorite.
I don’t think everyone loved it as you say. Perhaps not on this site, but the Gamecube did pretty poorly in sales when compared to the Xbox and PS2. I never got either of those competitors, but when comparing to long lasting games I enjoyed on the N64, SNES, NES and Wii, I feel that the Gamecube left more a sour taste then a pleasurable one.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some terrific games like Prime 1 & 2, Mario Baseball, Mario Tennis, along with some kickass collection sets (Megaman, Megaman X, Legend of Zelda.. etc). I still have these games among some others. I was just stating that the mainline series do not sit well with me. Sunshine is typically as a poorer title to the series. Windwaker does better in the LoZ, but it’s not at the top (on average). It may be at the top on individual lists and I understand that.
You realize that lifetime sales for the GC were only about 3 million fewer than the Xbox 1 right? Same as the gap between the Ps3 and 360.
I saw something about it tanking in Japan. Overall probably, but I should have noted that.

Will they still be selling GameCube games though?
I’d never sell my gamecube… If I didn’t alreadthrow it away cause it broke T_T. Limited edition pokemon XD gale of darkness gamecube T_T. I’ll agree selling your gamecube at Gamestop is a stupid idea.
I need more GameCube games. We got our Wii from my brother’s friend for $50, and it came with a Wavebird, another crappy controller, 2 memory cards, Luigi’s Mansion (Loved it) and Starsky and Hutch (not to mention a Wii remote and Nunchuk.) I really want to get Windwaker, Sunshine, and Melee, not to mention the plethora of other great games.
I highly recommend one of the best JRPGs of the last decade: Tales of Symphonia. Rare and expensive, and worth every cent.
will they still sell gamecubes and controllers though? ill just buy what i need online though
I pour one out for the GameCube. Officially a collector’s item now. I had many great experiences with my GC. Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, SSBM, Def Jam Vendetta, Tales of Symphonia and many more. It is also the first (and only) console I bought on my own.
For the GameCube a vastly underrated console, Leave luck to heaven.
I thought they stopped accepting Gamecube trade-ins years ago…
I tried to trade mine away 4 years ago and I was told they don’t accept any trade-ins from Xbox, PS2, or Gamecube anymore… what gives?
so the gamecube is now becoming retro and won’t be seeing it in stores you will be missed gamecube http://youtu.be/xghYihKX9Es
that’s better!
I still have my Gamecube. It was a good system for its time.
I still have my Black one from years ago. Mario Party 5 that I got with it doesn’t read any more, but since I’m having problems with my Wii’s lens, my GC is getting a fair amount of use right now. An epic, and really underated console. I got that Metroid Prime replaceable disc cover too, it’s awesome.
Well I still have Twilight Princess, Sunshine, Melee, Paper Mario, DDr mario mix, Mario power tennis, and f1 2002(my dads game.) So there nothing I really wanna trade in.
