One million units is the figure being branded about by Nintendo America in regards to the number of Wii’s ready to ship for its US debut November 19th.
This news further reiterates what Nintendo, and the rumours – which have consistently surrounded the company, have previously stated in regards to a plentiful supply of units for consumers at the systems launch.
Ron Bertram, vice president and general manager for Nintendo of Canada enthusiastically said this about the situation: “If we get what we’re supposed to get, this will be our most plentiful launch in the 15 years I’ve been at Nintendo.”
Last week UK general manager David Yarnton appeared equally as confident about initial Wii shipments for the consoles UK launch in December stating; (we will receive) “more stock than we’ve ever had.”
you did not supply enough wiis for Christmas as you promised
I’m sure there are going to be a multitude of customers who were expected to lay their hands on a Wii, but due to shortages will come away disappointed. It’s unavoidable due to the demand of the product.
Demand in the northern midwest has too far exceeded supply, the 5 stores that carry it besides 3 other gaming stores in 2 cities (14 stores total) have only seen barely 5 shipments since release- I had to pay nearly double the price on ebay to get it. and not including the games to play…calling the stores twice a day for the past 2 months was driving me INSANE..ebay is part of the problem- and stores that did not limit one per customer are also to blame. Land of the greedy?
i have tried to get a wii for 3 monthes it is imposible on ebay they are up to $800 i have a limit of $300 totall lows on ebay are $300 but shipping is $50 extra so i am stuck with stores and since they have no idea when they will get them i need to call every day SEND MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ummmmm….it’s Feb. 12th and I still can’t find a Wii. What gives??
This article seems to be the first to historically talk about Wii supply issues – kudos on the early interest in the topic.
Grayson’s comment applies equally well on March 6th – scalpers seem to have the only steady supply.
I’m sorry, but Mr. Bertram’s comments about plentiful supply are both ridiculous at this point, as well as insulting. I wish I didn’t have to deal with Nintendo, but having a great kid kind of puts a damper on that. So, how about Plan B, Mr. Bertram?
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
